Best DM in the world currently.

Has absolutely everything: height, strength, tenacity, mental fortitude, sublime ball control, vision, expansive passive range, and a captain’s mindset.
Only thing missing is his pace. But he has improved in every other aspect of his game to compensate for it. Really world class.

He’s not quite as slow as many make out.

But, to paraphrase Maldini, if has to be quick to be able to defend, he’s a shite defender.

Hopefully continues to play in his proper position for the rest of the season!

by far our most consistent player, week in week out. Hopefully Kalvin can step up now and give him a rest now and then.

what a ridiculous player. single-handedly pushed back the saints midfield when he came on. he might be the most imposing midfield player in the world to play against. he is reach beyond to levels even busquest was not capable of in a pep team.

Our most important player, given his quality and the fact that another player can't do what he does. If he gets injured or has to be rested, Gundo will have to step up, as he did vs United in October. Phillips won't be ready this season.

When he was subbed off in the league against Chelsea, he looked at all the players around him and gave a rallying call to make sure they won the game. He still wants to win. I've not seen that from many this season. He's got a high class attitude and is absolutely superb consistently in that DM role. The error he made against Everton was a rarity, and it shouldn't have led to a goal - that was down to horrific defending subsequently as much as the pass.

The first name on the team sheet with Stones. Unfortunately there aren't too many that are easy to pick beyond that right now.
