How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

I'm sure brexiteers will try and chalk it off as coincidence, but since we voted to leave the EU we've seen the rise of trump, Meghan markle treated in a way that would make Rosa Parkes blush, and the attempt by Jeremy Corbyn to establish a glorious 4th Reich here in the UK. Racist nation.

It’s the corollary of the notions that ‘we held all the cards’ and ‘they need us more than we need them’.
It is our brexit and none of the EU’s business, so they will have to do what we tell them.

Not just racist mate, xenophobic and mysoginist too. Sometimes I wish there was a EU army just so they could invade us and sort us out. Farage and Johnson would be first into the chamber, and Cameron should hang.

Hoey naturally presented the Unionist case, and she is pretty hardline in this respect, but in my opinion there is a kernel of truth in what she says in relation to the protocol and the way the EU have implemented it.

The protocol should only apply to a minority share of trade between GB and NI, and there’s really no case for the EU to implement it more broadly so as to disrupt the broader pattern of trade. Particularly so since many of the factors that would in theory motivate more rigorous checks on GB - NI trade - essentially the UK securing more preferential trade terms with third countries - haven’t actually happened yet.

As with most things relating to the border, the protocol was a very creative plan to deal with a unique problem, and this creativity naturally led to scope for different interpretations to be applied. But the core objective was to maintain a balance between the two communities in NI, and so the EU can’t simply ignore the problems the protocol has created for unionists.

None of this of course excuses the broader Brexit shit show, but on the matter of the protocol the EU hasn’t helped the situation.
 
The NI situation was an inevitable consequence of the type of Brexit we decided to have.

If we had gone for something like a Norway arrangement it probably could have been avoided. But the ERG nutters wanted us completely out of EU regulations and the Single Market. They wanted to diverge significantly. You cannot have an open border between that and the Single Market.

So the policy chosen (by us!) necessitates either some sort of border in the Irish Sea or on the Island of Ireland. The latter is ruled out by the Good Friday Agreement, which is guaranteed by the U.S. of A.

It's a fuck up, and the sensible answer would now probably be to have a united Ireland. But that is not acceptable to the people of NI, and maybe not even to those of the R of I given they would have to subsidise NI.

The bottom line is, as usual, the Tories did not give a thought to Ireland. Or if they did, it was to have deluded dreams about the Republic leaving the EU and joining the UK. Slightly less likely than a merger between City and United or Rangers and Celtic.

I've fact checked your nonsense and that's just the data/security element. The passports are made in Poland. A bit like Brexit, arguably.
