Hard to lay too much blame at his feet tonight, he's a right back that's known to get out of trouble for his lack of awareness with his pace playing at centre back, he simply shouldn't be asked to do that tonight u less we've got literally no other options, which clearly wasn't the case. piss poor from Pep.

However, some of it he should be doing better, some basic stuff tonight, not anticipating obvious runs, not closing down djenepo for their second allowing him a free shot from 20 yards. And then his fucking passing! Why the hell does he feel the need to absolutely rifle a ball into a blue shirt 10 yards away who's marked making it as difficult as possible to control?

He has to play weekend to handle Rashford but he needs to stop thinking he's better than he is, stick to his strengths accept your limitations and keep things simple to find some form before he finds himself behind an 18 year old permanently.

A fantastic player and a great servant to our club when asked to play in a position he can play in.

Play him at right back, and not inverted (if we want an inverted right back, play Rico).

Or play him on the right of a 3, fine. But he's not a centre-back in a back 4. Did any of us think he was?

It’s hilarious that people still think he’ll move to centre back as he gets older. He has almost no awareness of what’s going on around him and his passing is piss poor. We’d have been better playing one of the EDS centre backs tonight

Hes tried him as an inverted full back and as CB this season.

Hes a right back, thats it. Enough trying to play him in different roles.

Hopefully never see him as cb in a back 4 again, not composed enough in possession and doesn't understand the defensive role. RB or nothing.

It reminded me of watching Micah at centre half tonight, completely lost positionally and on the ball he wasnt much better.

Kyle was really, really poor tonight, in a poor team performance. He has been an exceptional player for us but it wasn't the game to choose him as a CB given he has only just returned to the side. We move on, with one of the world's best right backs played in the position in which he is one of the best.

Hung out to dry at CB absolutely no need for him to play that role with Akanji & Ake sat on bench
The downside to a big squad is there are a ton of egos that Pep needs to stroke. Hopefully, this loss gives Pep a 'fuck it' attitude.

A team with 5 CB’s granted one is injured and due to lack of quality or form (Gomes and Cancelo) one might end up playing LB for most of the season.

However, I don’t see why he played CB. We need to work on getting a settled back line for the CL games and the inevitable run in.

Definitely didn't do well as a centre back, having Phillips on front of him and Cancelo to his right didn't do him any favours though.
