I know we always hear the club stick to transfer plans etc but surely when the left back situation has become this bad we move for one this window?! The same as pep panicking about the CB situation again and the club reacted to it by getting akanji? We made a huge profit in the summer and spending even £30-40m on one will still leave us in big credit for the year?

The 5 are never available, at the very least one is injured.

Dias before injury was not in a good place, same with Laporte, Ake for me is hugely limited despite been one of our stand outs this season, which for me says everything about how are standards have dropped.
 
Gomez proved last night he is at best a stop-gap at LB
Ake is great at defending but offered little going forward, especially when teams sit deep like Saints did.

City’s recruitment has been so lazy in recent times imo.

Spent a whole summer chasing Kane and leaving the squad without a true no.9

Grealish for 100 mil. Shudder every time I think of this one. I was banging the drum when we where linked he is a poor mahrez without the end product. Honestly there is miles better players than grealish around europe like the bloke who is going to arsenal for instance.

Phillips for 40 mil? Again surely there is better around Europe for half the price. This isn’t hindsight either again I voiced concerns re Phillips ability and injury record.

Ake isn’t as good as the other cbs imo. 40 mil for a back up is madness.

chasing cucurella trying bully Brighton only to miss out and again have no decent back up option, just shocking neglect to the lb position over the last few years. Made worse by selling zinchenko.

Alvarez and akanji are really good signings tbf and obviously haaland is a good buy.

It’s like our recruitment team only watch match of the day! Honestly your telling me there isn’t viable options to grealish, Phillips, cucurella anywhere around Europe for a fraction of the price?

Now we are seemingly gonna blow most our budget on a very over hyped player in Bellingham?

We have become very complacent imo

I don't believe for one second that City's recruitment has become lazy. With what we know, the whole department is producing reports and analysis on thousands of players every year.

They can't force Pep to give the sign off on them.

Can you really imagine being sat in a room 18mths ago with Pep and Txiki with Aguero gone and all the recruitment staff could offer was "How about we sign Harry Kane".

Did we have Txiki sat there in the summer telling Pep you can't have Cucurella, your having this young lad we have found at Anderlecht instead. Pep would have walked out the door years ago if thats how we ran things.

I think Pep has got a bit complacent in all honesty, he seemingly has unlimited confidence/arrogance that anyone can be taught and improve under his coaching.

For several years we have all been crying out for a LB but seemingly Pep thinks its alright.

He coached an attacking midfielder pulled from the CFG to play there, pulled Delph out of midfield and played him there, turned a RB into a LB and now Ake has had a run he is now our next great hope.

By all accounts Pep was panic stricken during the summer over our CB situation which is why we did a late deal for Akanji. There has to be something we are missing with why he refuses to sign a LB.

I've seen a lot of comments on here about signings and certain players not being good enough ect. I think sometimes we've got to remember you just can't always just buy anyone we know the club do extensive work into personalities and such.

Also some need to remember there is squad rules like home grown quotas ect
