Are City a better all round team without Haaland?

the city had its best version these last 4 years. but we already know that real madrid always plays with one more (the referee). Ferguson already said it talking about Real Madrid and its corruptions in Spain

Last few seasons we’ve relied on direct wingers to get in behind but this season we’ve got Haaland to get in behind meaning the wingers can be inverted.

It’s not hard.

When Grealish starts, Ake starts on the left to provide width so Grealish can drift inside. When Foden starts he provides natural width with Cancelo roaming inside. When Palmer/Bernardo start on the right Walker provides the width. When Mahrez or Alvarez plays on the right, Lewis plays inverted.

It’s simple, if the wingers inverted the full backs has to overlap, if the wingers are hugging the touch line then the full backs play inverted.

I think Ake has overlapped with Grealish once in his entire City career, a couple games ago when jack literally pointed at him and told him to make the run
 
Week by week we are going backwards.

Pep had him dropping into midfield today , he looked like a fish out of water.
time and again we’re not using his runs in behind - must be on instruction but why is Haaland still making them ?

Don’t get why Pep was all over Aguero when he first arrived saying he has to be more involved and can’t sit on the last man all the time. What’s his plan for Haaland ?

this needs sorting and quick
 
The fundamentals of a Pep team are
1. Hardwork
2. Movement
3. Pressing as a team
Sadly we haven't done any of them on a consistent basis this season.
Regardless of the tactics or the players on the pitch, without the 3 points above it will not work.
We were better today but still nowhere near what we should be.
We have become a lazy static team.
Doesn't matter if it's Haaland, Sergio or a false 9
When you are playing slow uninspiring football and creating next to fuck all it doesn't matter who's up front.
 
So, last season we desperately needed a striker many said.

So, we went out and got arguably the best striker in the world.

Now, "do we really need him?"

We have fairly significantly changed our style of play from the last couple of seasons. What we are seeing is a transitional season imo
 
Fans of other teams said we were in cheat mode after signing him. The title would be a formality.

Yet, despite him scoring a shit load, we don’t know how to use him unless KDB’s right on song. Unfortunately, Kev’s fcuked most of the time and overplayed because he can’t be replaced.

It‘s a challenge for Pep to resolve, as is how to use Alvarez. If not, both might be wanting away in the next couple of years.
 
Haaland isn't a striker who will create chances for himself like Aguero would.
He needs the others to supply him the passes that give him the opportunity to score.
The other players aren't doing that at the moment.
Haaland isn't the problem. It's the supply lines that are the problem.

Agreed. I'd like to see 2 up front with him and Alvarez.

Yep it’s not Haaland fault , we arent playing to his strenghts

the problem is his strengths don’t suit the way we play
 
Has Pep ever had an out and out striker like this he got rid of Ibrahimovich, maybe we go to a 442 with KDB on a wing to get the ball in and Foden left to do the same, Rodri and Gundogan/Grealish/Silva in the middle, overlapping fullbacks to get to the byline? Put Alvarez up front with Haaland to do the lwg work.
 
Is pep that shit a manager that he can't work out how to play with the best number 9 in the world? Probably not. So fucking sort it out. Fuck possession and take risks. Play kev 20 yards further back. Stop telling foden and Mahrez not to run in behind and ask the defenders to overlap.. like he's done before. Goddammit

If he had took a risk today
they would have scored more than 2 perhaps
but
we would have scored even more than them,and by fk,it might have been exciting for a change.
