Walker, Gundogan, Laporte and Cancelo were unhappy according to Alvarez.
I think the actual quote listed them all as possible exits in the summer, with ‘the latter’ being unhappy with pep. Someone posted on Twitter that the others were also unhappy and Alvarez himself clarified that’s not what he said

Bernardo Silva unhappy as well according to that journalist
he hasn't been happy for a while but this season he doesn't put in the same level of performance, I for one was gutted a couple of years ago when he was first rumoured to want out, at this point we need people that are here to fight for the cause.

Pep's never got rid of someone because they make mistakes in big games. If he did, Laporte wouldn't be here. Stones would have left 4 years ago. Jesus wouldn't have stayed until he chose to leave.

Pep has said repeatedly he hates "sad faces", he's said he almost sold Cancelo in his first season for sulking in training, he referred to him as "Mr Cancelo" on Friday and then implied he's the only person in the squad not happy for Aké doing well.

Are you really going to pretend this is about anything other than attitude?

Anyway as for cover.

Aké is looking good, the kid Gomez can play and develop. Pep's already playing 3 at the back in some games which is a formation we have tons of cover for.

And the new kid Perrone is left footed so maybe he's an option.

Pep's not going to cut his nose off to spite his face. He'd only sanction a move if he thought he could win all 3 tournaments with the squad he's got left.
Well it looks like the decision has been made. I trust Pep of course but there is now a lot of faith based in Ake staying fit. I don't know if the dressing room stuff is true or not but sad if it is. As said by others, the burglary cannot have been an easy time for Cancelo and family.
That said, I've always had question marks over his attitude on the pitch - there have been many times when he does something special and then goes for glory himself instead of something simpler- it happens at least once or twice a game and at times his defending was not just poor but was a "couldn't be bothered" attitude. It seems he thinks he is better than he actually is. But there have been patches of form that have just been great and so innovative from a supposed left back so lots of good things to remember. -

Several years ago, I had to deal with a cabal of six employees who thought they were above the law at our company.

A staff meeting was called where the three "Locker Room Lawyers" were sacked, & their three sycophants were given final written warnings. Two of the sacked were crucial to the business, but I reasoned their toxic presence was more damaging than losing their specialist technical skills.

Best move I ever made. Order was restored & the three on final warnings actually went on to become future star employees & senior management, after stepping up to the plate to replace their former colleagues.

Squad unity & discipline is far more important than ANY player. If Cancelo isn't being picked because of his poor attitude anyway, all we lose is the option to pick him when needed, with zero guarantee of how he'd perform when/if called. If we keep him, what would be the cost to the overall squad?

As for a replacement? It wouldn't surprise me if we brought in an experienced LB on loan. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't. Regardless, in Pep/City do I trust.
Remember Pep's first action when he arrived here, kicked a legend in Joe Hart out of the building, that action gave him instant respect in the dressing room.

Dissent can't be allowed in any workplace, however valuable or talented the employee is.

It’s not even about squad harmony. It’s about being ruthless, killer mentality. It’s about sending a message.
Not just to our players, but the rest of the league.

I think this is the catalyst that wins us the title this year. I’m happy actually with this news. It means our club is being run like how I’d run it.

A player wants out, fuck em. Get rid.

He looked a really competent footballer at the world cup. Always 1st to the ball, strong, good distribution.

Unless being taken for a walk by Messi ;)

To be fair, he has taken everybody for a walk.

He's absolutely perfect for us in terms of age, talent and ability to play centre back and left-back with ease.

Not this fucking shit again !!
FFS HE WANTED TO GO HE WASN`T PUSHED.
Hindsight is 20:20 but if he wanted to leave for more playing time, it'd be hard to say he wouldn't get it now. And I doubt Cancelo turns into locker room cancer overnight, the signs had to be there before.

Zin isn't necessarily the long term answer to our fullback woes but he was a positive presence in the locker room, knew the system, and was plenty reliable.

Would we be improved if we'd sold Cancelo for more money to a non-title challenger instead of shipping Zin to the Arse, I think so. But hindsight is 20:20 so, if we did, we'd all be watching him kick on at Real or Bayern and say we did horrible business.

Cancelo as good as he has been has been a sticking plaster at left back. His first instinct is to take a touch and come inside, when we are trying to find service for a player like Haaland it doesn’t work. We need someone who will get beyond Grealish and create space on the outside and also get a ball in, keep saying it’s no coincidence Grealish has played better since Cancelo has been benched as they end up running into the same areas.

If we have to get through with Ake till June to sign someone decent so be it. The club should have paid what Brighton wanted for Cucurella in the summer, I bet he’s kicking himself too finding himself in the shit show which Chelsea are in at the moment.
