Spurs (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Most people here are idiots or extremely emotional/reactionary. Spurs away has always been challenging for us, and today it was a close match and I would say we were better. Bar Rodri's mistake (our player of the season so far) we cobtrolled the game (we weren't that dangerous either).

Anyway, it's still a long way to go, and even with no PL, we are still in for 2 trophies
Spurs away has always been challenging? Mate we’ve not scored there in FIVE games !! Yes I’m emotional nor an idiot . I drove to Wembley last we scored against then never of thought I’d be honoured to see a goal against them.

For those old enough… never forget. Some right dick heads on here. You’ve no idea what supporting a football club is meant to be about. We’re going to go through a massive change in the next 12 months. I hope you Lot have fucked off when we’re brilliant again - with Pep. Spoilt brats

What I don't understand is, how the best coach in the world (which he is) can go onto a game, knowing whats coming, have the same mistakes for 4 seasons. He's got one one him atm and he needs to sort his head out
The best coach in the world has decided that through balls are not part of his masterplan. And that is the season in a nutshell. We can still win without them, but my god it's fucking boring to watch.

We sign the striker in the world and no fucker passes the ball to him, only at City, get this sorted or we will not win anything.

Completely lost as to what we are now as a team

We don't control the ball, we don't look like scoring, we can't defend, all things we were good at when at our best

Akanji has been a good signing, but come on, the guy has played nearly every single game this season, and is getting far too much game time. How can we have Dias and Laporte, fit and yet they aren't both forced into a game of this size.

Grealish was literally the only player who looked like he cared, and that's a concern given the stick he's had from some of our fan base this season.

This squad needs a bomb putting through the middle of it and rebuilding from scratch. I'd go as far as saying that the only players I'd take with me are Rodri, Grealish, Haaland and Alvarez.

I genuinely wouldn't care less if we got rid of the rest in the summer, as long as Pep is still here.

I don’t see Haaland as so bad with his feet and passing that we need to destroy the whole structure to fit him in. We are absolutely broken getting the ball forward right now and unless and until we learn to build up with pace again you can play all the false 9s you want and we will be wondering why we look so bad. Haaland has nothing to do with this imo except that we are changing so much trying to keep him from having to do things I think he’s fully capable of doing

Disappointing but Arsenal played relegation fodder Everton. Meanwhile City played away at Spurs ground where we have never so much as scored and the points gap is as you were before this round of fixtures.. well. I'd say it's not all doom and gloom.

Nevertheless, poor performance and problems for Pep to solve.

Set of fucking bluffers these lot. They’ll win fuck all and they deserve that. Worst city team I’ve seen under Pep. I can’t even be arsed watching them I don’t even look forward to it.
I have the opposite problem. I look forward to it all week and then feel mightily deflated. Another media blackout, till the next one.

The whole set up stinks to high heaven at the moment. Major shit going on behind the scenes and the players seem to be doing their best to throw Pep under the bus. Debruyne? What the fuck was he playing at in the last seconds? Face like a smacked arse all game on the bench then strolled around like a peacock when he came on. Only Jacko going forward can hold his head up today. I'm usually a glass half full kind of guy, but fucking hell, if anybody thinks we're gonna win the league with that set up is very much mistaken. There's a cancer within that squad right now, and it's spreading. Absolutely fucking gutted! Goodnight world! :(

We didn't get spanked with a makeshift looking defence containing a kid being played out of position. We are not fully in tune with playing to Haaland strenghs; despite his goals tally for this season (that is partly down to Pep)

Long drive home for me now. I’ve been everyone time to this ground we’ve played here and not seen us win once. Dreadful! Rico, grelaish and Ake only ones who can hold there head up today. Ref shocking also.

Seen that performance too often since the world cup. I know the formations have been questioned but I think we just have too many players out of form at the moment. If we can find our rhythm we still have every chance of winning the league, however we need to find it soon.

Think someone said it on the matchthread, but that starting 11 is a top four team, not a world class championship winning team. So when you play away from home against another team of similar quality it is very possible you get turned over. They all seem like decent lads, they could all play in a champion winning team, but they're not a champion winning team in that configuration and in that eleven.

Beyond that, I don't know what's wrong. Energy, movement, desire all lacking. Tactics and shape all lacking. Individual performances and mistakes and concentration all lacking.

I don't know why we can't get the ball to Haaland. He's open, he's making the runs, we've got attack minded players on the pitch, what is happening?

Maybe this season isn't our season, and I can't complain too much about that, we've had it good for along, but I just don't see us putting a run together that has pushed to a title like in previous years.

Frustrating to watch.

I don't think it's an overreaction to say we aren't winning the league this season the team don't want it enough yes there's loads of points to play for but can't see it, we need something other than this we are easy to play against
And don’t even think about the Chumps league

You don’t win titles with Akanji and Ake as your starting CBs and Rico Lewis as a consistently starting full back (left or right). You just don’t.

Pep is willing to toss off the season, because he is more interested in showing who is boss. Dias and Laporte watching on week in, week out. Cancelo booted out of the club.

Big summer ahead, if the attitude is that Pep is effectively all powerful, then that means half a dozen out and at least half a dozen in.

If we start next season with Ake and Akanji as our starting CBs, then this is the start of the end. Might seem dramatic, might seem over-the-top, but history tells us that dominance doesn’t last forever. Over the years, dominant sides have replaced their best players with others that don’t reach the same level and they slowly but surely start to move towards the pack. We are currently moving in that direction.
I really like Ake, and Akanji is okay, but your right, I think some problems can be traced to the backline to be fair.

They aren't meant to be starters to begin with, but when Stones and Laporte are continually injured this is what happens.

Laporte, Dias and Stones in the back 3 means we play out way better, makes the midfield better, and gives the attack more chances.

It's not the whole problem with the squad, but it is some of the problem, the midfield and attack has it's own issues too of course, but if the base is off, it affects all of them.

Really don’t think haaalnd suits a pep side. Just doesn’t have the technique to get involved in the build up and we are so risk averse with our passing.

Big summer needed but the links to Maddison has more concerned.

Grealish played really tbf to him as did ake

Why? Maddison is exactly what this squad needs, he's a hungry english player that wants trophies he'd bring goals and assists as well. Bellingham the same wants to win.
