PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Mubadala managed investments worth a combined total of £200 billion last year; their vice chairman is Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon is managing director and group CEO.
Just to be clear, the PL are actually accusing these people of fraud and false accounting over a period of 10 years? It’s frankly laughable..

Getting back on the topic of the thread,

IIRC in the CAS case, UEFA explicitly said that while HHSM was contradicting their version of events, they were definitely not calling him a liar, and that he didn't necessarily have to be misleading the court to be wrong.

I would assume the Premier League would couch any allegations with similar wording to get around the very uncomfortable idea of throwing fraud accusations at the deputy PM of one of our biggest allies.

I dunno - that Boris Johnson looks like a bit of a wrong 'un!

The idea that any journalist or editor would overlook proof of corruption in the Premier League - the biggest sport story in this country in 20 years - because the victim of said corruption was Manchester City is one of the many completely unbeleiveable aspects of this story.

Another one might be why a concerned citizen turned whistleblower would send said "proof" to Manchester City, and not make a dozen copies and send it to every major news desk in the country.

Or just put it on Twitter and cut out the middle men?

City could even do that themselves and have dabs well away.

This whole independent review stuff is interesting as a whole lot of stuff has been going on just as this white paper was due to be released. Us being charged, some seriously dodgy officiating, takeovers at the RAGs - its like trying to get as much shit done before it hits the fan for some. Ratboy has been pushing for an independent regulator and he has been pretty mild around what has gone on with City. Wonder of he knows something.

Maybe I'm just thinking too deep.

Even the Jim Ratcliffe statement mentioned football is on the verge of huge change.

I took it to elude the regulator already being a shoe-in.

Yes. And perhaps mileage in the revamped ESL.

Don't see the latter. Glazers would not sell up if there were the slightest chance of English clubs breaking away again.

Too much money on offer.

This is about an independent regulator cutting the balls off the Premier League and FA.

Thus, cutting the balls also off United and the cartel clubs.

Can't enforce the status quo if the votes no longer count :)

I have to say this is the thing that most makes me think it is BS. A story of this magnitude would have to be worth tens of thousands of pounds - and possibly more - for a red top exclusive. Were it true, I cannot imagine there's many people (like zero) who would throw say £50k down the pan by just sitting on this and only sharing it with City.

Neville wants to be the regulator. Him and Carragher both put themselves forward when the idea was first mooted. Presumably to try and protect redshirt interests like Gill and Parry did at UEFA

Its on the person who wrote such an allegation to proove that the allegation is true. A fairly respected journalist by City offered to investigate and that person decided to expose DM's of the journalist attempting to help - because he seems against all 'the media.'

So it is my opinion, but one fair to say, that its conspiratorial nonsense. Though im sure he gave it in good faith I think the information is duff and one to have a laugh at blues expense.

I think the lack of new stories on the charges is because there isn't really anything new to say. Large parts of the media went all in and dumped every angle possible in 2 weeks. Plus they've moved on to the next news story which is Qatar buying utd.
Plus, we're obviously guilty of all charges (in their eyes) so no story to tell.

Long gone are the days of £50k for a story.

Most I ever got was £15k on Simon Cowell more than a decade back.

Unless you are a celeb sit-down, newspapers pay peanuts these days and just rip off each other and fuck over freelancers trying to earn a living.

If I was in possession of such info or evidence, I would take it direct to City and sell it to them for £100k and also insist on a job!

Fair enough. I know bugger all about these things. About most things actually.

I found it interesting if my memory serves me right, Neville took a positive slant on City after we were charged and was quite sceptical of the validity of the charges- I personally think the Cartel know the days of manipulation are nearly over and have gone for it -

What if he made a deal with city double then what he could get somewhere else?
