Do you support the RMT?

That **** Sunak at PMQ's saying the Govt gave the teachers a 5% pay rise last year - when inflation was much lower AND the Govt gave them nothing they simply told schools to find 5% out of their existing budgets. And they want kids to do extra maths lessons !!!! Who how when and where is doing that then? Maybe it will be done in the fantasy Ambulances they dreamed up last week and teaching will be done by the fantasy doctors and nurses who will be attending the fantasy beds they dreamed up too.................

Absolutely and that twat of a mayor in London tried to break up the fbu by offering London a separate deal, good they told him to fuck off. Sadly they will be walking out the doors for the second time over pay in 20 years, sooner we get rid of these Tories the better.
Email confirmation this morning from the Chief that he can match the deal London been offered without any cuts and will be pushing this nationally in the upcoming chiefs and chairs meeting on 6 Feb, 2 days before NJC meeting

Still need a formulae adding to it to protect future rises

Still 100% and more now. I don't even that they NEED it.

But the rich are telling us it's all our fault and that we must take the pinch, their media friends tell us the same, the govn think we are all one brainless mass who will take any shit they can propagandise at us.

I'm starting to actually see union's as our last line of defence against this takeover by the entitled.

Swing to the left anyone?

Was thinking something similar only last week. When you consider the amount of mandates for strike action that are currently 'live' across the NHS, education, railways, civil service etc., the opportunity is there. Add to that the fire service (result announced on Monday) plus our (CWU) second ballot (mid Feb) March would be the ideal time. Never factored in budget day but can't think of a better day for coordinated action.
I attended a TUC meeting last night.

Their officials said the support shown shows that full cordinated action is on the table.

Saw a clip from this doing the rounds yesterday and ended up watching the full show. So many similarities with today in tge arguments expressed, lots of obvious differences too ... not least the collars!

A great watch is that, thanks for posting.

Wasn't it just!

The parallels 50 years on are striking. Talk of a general strike, an intransigent Tory government about to be booted out plus a cost of living/global energy crisis.

The arguments were so familiar but the standard of debate much higher.

4% to be made redundant next year and agree that my union loses collective bargaining rights.

These Tory cunts think we're mugs.

Tories will be wheeled out to call Lynch undemocratic because he didn't put it to a referendum. He attended special meetings all over the country to understand the feeling. The feeling is to instruct the General Secretary to call for more talk with RDG and Network Rail along with a deadline set to call further dates should they ignore us.

Thats how a democratic union works. The members instruct their elected officials to act on their behalf. The Tories work on we'd rather change laws to benefit us and our donors than negotiate properly.

That’s a cracking turnout
And a 2% higher offer now likely to be accepted (recommended by FBU Exec).

Can anyone fathom why the government are being so stubborn about nurses and rail staff and others?

Political ideology.

Theres been more talks, as in "We can talk but the DFT won't let us negotiate." Expect more train strike dates announced.

Dear RMT Member,

DEFEND JOBS, PAY AND CONDITIONS – TRAIN OPERATING COMPANIES

Following the consultation period of members via branches, regional councils and representatives, your union’s National Executive Committee instructed me to seek an urgent meeting with the Rail Delivery Group (RDG), which has been representing your company during this dispute.

The meeting with the RDG has now taken place, with discussions making no further progress and the RDG refusing to provide an improved offer. The matter has been considered by your NEC again today and it has noted that the RDG has failed to provide the union with an improved offer.

It is clear that the RDG and your company are treating you and your colleagues with utter contempt, and they must take action in providing an adequate offer that rewards you for your hard work, with a substantial pay increase and no detrimental changes to your terms and conditions.

Our campaign therefore continues, and the next phase commences with 24-hour strike action on March 16th. This is an important date which is the day after the Chancellor’s budget and the mobilisation of thousands of workers taking strike action on March 15th at a mass demonstration in London by those workers on strike.

We will run the national railway on March 15th to facilitate this mobilisation of our fellow striking workers and carry out our own strike action the following day. This will be a powerful message of workers’ solidarity but also a message to the government that they must fund our railway properly in order to create a resolution to this dispute.

We will then have a programme of industrial action across the train operating companies as set out below. We must demonstrate our unity in action during that period in order to pursue our campaign and to achieve a settlement we can all support.

Therefore, the Union’s National Executive Committee is instructing you and your colleagues not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

0001 hours and 2359 hours on Thursday 16th March 2023
0001 hours and 2359 hours on Saturday 18th March 2023
0001 hours and 2359 hours on Thursday 30th March 2023
0001 hours and 2359 hours on Saturday 1st April 2023

I ask that you continue to stand in solidarity during the dispute and support your union and colleagues in taking this action.

As previously mentioned, there is a hardship fund available to members who are suffering financial hardship due to industrial action. This fund is being administered by branches and regions. Please contact your branch or representative to find out information on how you can apply for any hardship payments.

The NEC has instructed me to place this matter back before them in the week commencing 27th March 2023 to review the developments in the dispute and where we are with any negotiations.

I trust this keeps you fully advised.

Your sincerely,

Mick Lynch
General Secretary

No dates announced yet but reading that I reckon the 15th is nailed on.

I suspect it will be. Along with many others. RMT picked the 16th so as many activists from the TU movement can demonstrate in London that day.
You called it right 3 weeks ago mate
I have a feeling there will be a national day of action on the day of the March budget. Possibly the closest thing possibly to a legal national general strike.
