Pep set up the team spot on for the first half, and we were cruising. No doubt about that!

Pity the job doesn't stop after 45 minutes, though, because the moment Leipzig came out for the second half you could tell they were up for it. They were significantly more aggressive and changed their game.

So, what did Pep do in response? Are you truly happy with his performance from the 45th minute on?
I wouldn't say happy, but Leipzig is a good team and a draw away at this stage is a really solid result. A sloppy 2nd half, but with Foden having some injury concerns, I don't think there was a clear sub to be made (Alvarez? Grealish was playing well, and Mahrez is always a threat at UCL). And we still had some good chances (Mahrez saved goal in the line, 1v1 Haaland, great save to Gundogan by the keeper). Sloppy but not awful 2nd half.

If people here expect 20 shots on target on these type of matches, then you will always be dissapointed.

Their manager made changes to impact the game.
For whatever reason ours only makes changes when we're either 3 up or with 5 minutes to go.
It's a mystery.

Pep needs to take a look at Arsenal and Burnley for inspiration. He is completely wasting Haaland's talent. The front three of Haaland, Grealish, and Maharez can't press and midfield can be got at easily.
Defense is not the problem, the number of chances Leipzig had they could have scored more.

Does he not trust the defence that much that he suffocates the attack with possession? Seeming that way.

Brilliant tactics 1st half. Genius
He didn’t do anything in the second half apart from sulk. Terrible from him 2nd half and the no subs thing is just stupid/weird

3 away games on the bounce with a 4 th and 5th around the corner. We cannot sustain a full tilt performance every single game. Other than Kev missing and maybe Laporte for Akjani that is our strongest line up.

I’ll be eternally grateful for the way he defended us after the PL charges. Nothing can change that.

But he is falling short of his standards this season.

His obsession with retaining possession, which was presumably sparked by the Real Madrid loss last season, is holding us back. Not only have results dropped off, but we’re also pretty dull.

He’s also far too preoccupied with opponents’ strengths rather than playing to ours.

And the striker we waited 2 years for looks utterly fucked off now, understandably.

I really hope Pep isn’t too stubborn to go back to the drawing board.

I think Pep has been scared from all the near misses in the Champions League. Let's get back to getting on the front foot and taking the game to the opposition.
Give RB Leipzig some credit they are in an lengthy unbeaten streak.

Terrible tonight. No lessons learned from the Forest game. We’re under the cosh so how about bringing some tactical subs on to neutralise their threat!!! At least do fucking something. Absolute carbon copy of the Forest match and for a world class coach to allow that to happen is not good enough. 2/10 tonight.

well we certainly had many more exciting teams in the past.

other day watched some of the runs and speed we showed in Pellegrini's first season when all Nasri, Dzeko, Negredo, Kun were in top form even Nolito, Navas plus Yaya, Silva etc. etc.
or the Centurion season ...

this countless passing between Akanji, Walker, Ake, Rodri, Mahrez, Grealish with not much played in for Haaland in most games, well yes, harder to watch.

but even last season with false 9, we put some serious pressure on teams a lot of times with Sterling, Jesus, Foden upfront. some frustration came from them regularly missing sitters not from not creating anything...
we lost a lot of intensity imo with Grealish/Mahrez being the main wide guys this season. we did not have a top finisher last season but we had overall hell of a lot more chances created.

now we often struggle to create 1 chance for Haaland in 90mins,, especially since the WC.
