Pep Guardiola - 2022/23

Haaland is the better goal scorer he's a killer and is blowing away records. But he's still young and needs to learn linkup play

Kane is the better player right now in overall play, he would've been a better fit and a easier transition from the false 9 with how good his link up play is there's a reason Pep wanted him.

Kane's link-up and midfield play is up there with the very best. He would have been a perfect fit for Guardiola.

Haaland was the perfect Txiki signing at £51m. Guaranteed huge profit on sale in a couple of years.

The City Group is all about the money.

Not sure he did much wrong today. Right shape, right set-up, right team. Yes, we struggled to produce chances, but there were plenty of times when we got in positions to create something, and De Bruyne, Foden, Mahrez or Bernardo fucked things up by choosing the wrong pass, or playing a shit one.
Grealish for Foden was obviously right, too.
Could possibly have made a sub at 1-0 to try to lock things down. But Gundogan has been awful lately and has generally looked like he’s playing with lead in his boots. No guarantees he would have helped.
Should have thrown Alvarez on at the end though.

The failure to involve Haaland more consistently in our play is the biggest criticism you can make of Guardiola this season.

There does appear to be some unhappiness in the squad, and we shouldn’t have been allowed to go into the season with both Gundogan and Bernado seemingly wanting away. Phillips and Gomez look like bad signings and Foden’s slump in form looks to be something more deep rooted as well. Ultimately, winning five out of six titles was always going to tough.

However, the slow, laboured approach to our play when you have Haaland in the team is the more frustrating issue for me and even with the various issues around the squad, I don’t think Guardiola is getting the best out of the players available this season.
The absolute fear of losing the ball has stopped anyone looking for him early.

Money is what makes a club tick. Txiki hasn’t done a bad job over the years by recouping money from player sales. We’ll be in a very good position this summer to reinforce our midfield and get a winger in. I think you’re over reacting again.

Again you’re making another logical jump.

Pep thinking Kane is a good fit does not mean he thinks Haaland is a bad fit,

You’re adding 2+2 to get 67.
I never said Pep thought he was a bad fit. He thought Kane was a better fit for his system.

Pep doesn't know what to do with Haaland.

Wants the rest of the team to play like we have a false 9 and walk the ball into the net.
