Bournemouth (A) | Post Match Thread

But the crickets on at the same time?!?
Not on my tv ; )
I used to play cricket when I was younger at a pretty good standard, had a trial for Lancashire boys.
But I can't watch......I do watch the ashes though.

Didn't think we were that good or that bad really, just clinical in the first half and that gave us a buffer in the second half.

Our discipline in the last 30 mins is shocking these days and Bournemouth could have easily made it nervy with better finishing.

Can't remember the last time we were good for a whole game or won both halves of a league match. Before the World Cup?

Don't think we've adapted to the 5 subs rule either. Shape of the team always goes to shit after more than 3 subs.

Lewis good. Ake good. Foden good. Perrone good. Pleased for Haaland. Phillips a real worry - doesn't look anywhere near ready.

Three points and a nice boost to the GD.

There was an element of luck to three of our goals but on the balance of play we deserved the win.

Actually thought we played better against Forest and could've easily been 3-0 up at HT there but that's football.

Second half was disjointed but to be expected with all the changes.

Rodri getting a much needed rest was a bonus.

Good win.

I have been a bit critical of Pep use of substitutions,or lack of.

5 Subs killed the home Derby where we looked like scoring 7,8, goals against the Rags, before he subbed all the best players letting the fuckers save face and some respectability escaping with an unlikely 6-3 defeat. When 8-0 looked more likely.

Today after our 4th goal i knew it was going to be Derby 2.0,,it was game over at that point to be fair.

Yet again after dominating we went to shit,a bit like the Derby.

My thinking now is maybe Pep has zero trust in any the fringe players to make Subs in tight games. He literally needs us to be 4,5,6, goals up before he can trust making major changes. And to be fair such is the drop off you can see why.

Our depth is a myth.

It's easy to look good when the opposition is that bad, but...

That was a better performance; we played with tempo and intensity, passed the ball well, and attacked with numbers.

Needed that.

Far from perfect but encouraging.

The squad depth is a myth but at 4 up the changes were never going to lose us the points,so in respect of game time and rest it made sense.

MOTM was probably Ake for me,but Dias,Lewis and Gundo did great too.

Wonderful to see the goalscorers were those that probably needed it most, and there is a very strong argument that Haaland plays better with support from a second striker.I still dont like the back 3 thingy as its leaves us susceptible and im very much a solid foundation/dont fuck about type.

So something to build on......Overall a 7.5/10
Putting the ball in the net wins games.
Who’d have thunk it?

very good win, disappointed to concede but would have taken that before the game. Miles better when we play forward quickly.

Cracking performance, Alvarez needs more game time. Perrone looks like another South American bargain. Phillips on the other hand isn't up to playing for this club. Hopefully we sell him on for as much as we paid and bring Romeo home
Very pleased on the whole bar the last 15 mins which was poor. I watched Phillips closely when he came on but for someone presumably looking to jmpresss there was barely any energy or drive from him.
Still I an now get back to a pint a goal

Nice straightforward win which was just what was needed. Even for us it will do no harm to take the belief from a clinical performance in front of goal.

Decent game management ahead of Tuesday’s game, allowing a few big hitters to be eased back in.

Loved the reaction of the fans and Pep/the team at the end. Onto the next one.
