She didn’t rise to the top of the legal profession unless you count the awarding of her QC as a result of her ministerial position. As a lawyer, she was a junior barrister occasionally entrusted with photocopying papers for the partners.
Just seen this. Snap! Not sure your terminology is correc in terms of ‘partners’ but she was not considered to be very good, putting it mildly.

The latest trick - what happens if when Sunak speaks to Macron he is told the EU is preparing a law making it illegal for a member state to accept any refugee's the UK wishes to return to them

Well they need to do something surely,?
I admit the system needs sorting out and these ideas may not work but don't forget all these people coming here are costing tax payers a lot of money.
Labour haven't got s fucking clue on how to sort it, it wasn't one of Stramers 5 bullet points last week on his master plan.

Just maybe there are bigger fish to fry like the NHS, interest rates, food shortages, poverty, crime, broken infrastructure, climate change, sewage being pumped into the sea and river. This culture war bollocks is just that. Starmer is not a spiv cock sucking shithouse like Sunak or Johnson or that hideous cretin Truss the moron.

just my opinion.

Here's an idea - process asylum requests at the rate they were under the last Labour Govt - instead their austerity ideology destroyed the ability then they create a back log that forms part of their distracting culture wars - and some people actually beileve its not a problem of their making

And who has been in government for more than a decade and absolutely failed to process asylum seekers properly?

They need to create safe passages but initially they have to stop this issue, it's grossly unfair to tax payers that we have to pay for this.
Some of the men coming in do not have to be here. I'm all for helping people out but this has to be controlled otherwise our infrastructure will just collapse even more.

Maybe we should go back to doing what we used to do, before we tore up our agreements with the rest of our neighbours. Then recruit.people to process claims quickly and property .It ‘d be a start, and cheaper for tax payers than this shambles of an idea.

Let's be honest what ever anyone tries it's doomed to failure
I'm pig sick of this country to be honest like a lot of people. Hard workers just get fleeced

The sTories have failed at everything - it’s amazing how obsessed they have become with the “boat people” after doing fuck all about the issue for nigh on 13 years. I think they reckon they can awaken the “spirit of Brexit” by recreating the hate all foreigners mindset - it’s always been their go to plan right back to the days of Enoch Powell. They are fucked and finished and they know it.

I'll make it easy for you. The backlog is created by them on purpose. They have done so by deliberately not making the necessary asylum decisions in good time.

Here a picture to illustrate for you

Asylum backlog vs applications

more from the IFG

An inspection of asylum casework by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) in 2021 noted a number of factors contributing to this decline in productivity:10
  • a shortage of technical specialist staff to provide guidance and support to asylum decision makers and conduct quality assurance
  • inadequate training for asylum interviews
  • low morale and high turnover among decision makers, attributed to a pressure to meet targets and a lack of career progression
  • the removal in 2019 of an official service standard, to decide 98% of ‘straightforward cases’ within six months.

I don't think you will get a reply.

They have ABSOLUTELY created this issue to create fear and anger. They hope to drive a culture war, once again, and will use their media partners to do their bidding for them. The recent defector from their party made it clear that their election strategy would be based on it and this is the biggest part of that, feeding on the very mentality that brought Brexit to our door.

We just need people to wise up and recognise what is going on - if the means of legal entry are all closed, as they have been, then every single person arriving does so illegally. We have international obligations on this issue and we are destroying the international reputation we had by courting the votes of those blinded by ignorance and prejudice.

Maybe just sort the Home Office out and then we can crack on with fixing the shit-show that the Tories have left behind.

How can you say that, this government has made it far worse by their actions in the last 8 years. Reversing those wouldn’t be doomed to failure. If you’re sick of this country then vote and hope for a change in government, but the problems of this country aren’t caused by the asylum issue thats what the government want you to blame for their inadequacies.

Majors Govt hounded out by their own inadequacies
Browns Govt hounded out by their own inadequacies
This lot - constantly rewarded for their inadequacies
