Joy Division / New Order thread

Only saw it once myself, around that same time. One of the stalls that were in the Corn Exchange on a Saturday morning had it.
Used to drop into Manchester record fairs as a teenager every now and again, but Leeds Notts and Sheffield were my usual haunts.

46 minutes in
Sumner and Morris talking about Ian Curtis and suicide awareness

A nice contrast to the comments of a certain ex Fall member on Facebook about Ian being a 'lightweight'

Blue Monday is 40 years old.....

Scary. I was 20 when it came out and now 60!
Still got this on 12" ...with the labels on the wrong sides. I was 15 living in Wythenshawe...just leaving school. Still love the track just as much. Fucking ace song.

I was 11 and now 51. I didn't actually hear Blue Monday until 1987 when I received "Substance" as a Christmas present.
My favourite song released in that year at the time? Everything Counts by Depeche Mode!

No way. I was 9. Doesn't time fly.
Still sounds brilliant today
So chuffed every time my daughter (29) gets in the car and puts New Order on, I know my job is done (and yes occasionally she'll put The Smiths on too lol)

I remember being in work and telling everyone to watch TOTP as New Order are on.
The comments on the Friday morning.....
"They just stood there and didn't move"

Horrible TOTP appearance. They should have mimed! They made a superb appearance a few years later with True Faith.

Love the bit when Bernard starts laughing. Not sure if it's nerves or the ridiculousness of the situation, especially with Steve Wright dressed as Easter Bunny.
Rob wanted them to do it live. For me it's a great piece of TV and showed up the pomposity of the programme. One of the only times someone has appeared only for the record to go down the chart the next week. I love this era of New Order. Here's a button let's press it and see what happens
