There is no chance in hell that Alf wants Erling to stay more than 2-3 years. If Haaland stays here any longer, it will be in spite of his dad and agent, not because of them. Those two will want another £20m payout at all costs.

I’m not suggesting he’ll stay forever. However, I can’t help recalling how many people portrayed them as a pair of unprincipled mercenaries when expecting Erling to sign for Real Madrid.

We’ve seen a rather more positive and humble aspect since he surprised us to become a Blue.

Because of his age I'm sure he wants to play all over Europe setting records wherever he goes. But as he gets older that ambition might change and he might instead want to create a legacy somewhere. Why not be City's all time top scorer? The top scorer in premier league history? The top CL goalscorer. He could achieve all of those things with us.

He can start by scoring enough to win us the treble!

Plus what does consist of playing in the top Leagues? He's done Germany, now England

All that's really left is Spain and Italy. Possibly France but that's essentially propped up by a handful of players at one club, it may not be viewed in the same light once they move on.

He could move on in his late 20's and still play in the remaining 2 or 3 Leagues. There's no reason he couldn't be with us for 5 or 6 more years and still go on to have success in a couple of places. He has plenty of time.

Exactly, it's not one to worry about. Things change as you get older. The ambition and hunger I had in my 20s has been replaced by a desire for work-life balance now I have kids. A year felt a long time back then, and I was hungry for more promotions and more money. Now I'm comfortable and spend most of my working day on here! The same will be true of a lot of footballers. There's outside noise about moving, and it's an agents dream to move someone around for more and more money, but if they're getting game time, getting a good salary and are happy and settled they don't have the same desire to leave.

Realistically I think Haaland will go to Real Madrid at some stage, but we'll find a different way of playing again and manage. We scored plenty of goals before him, we'll score plenty afterwards. If his goals deliver us titles then we can all be happy and let him go on his way. As I said originally, he needs to deliver us the treble this season and then he could go in the summer!

If the release clause rumours were untrue it would've been easy and very beneficial for us to deny it, but we haven't. To me it's as good as confirmed that he at least has one eye on a La Liga move before he hits his prime years.
Unless the release clause was if we got relegated, in which case I don't blame them for including it all.

Didn't we deny it last week by saying it was redundant now Pep has signed an extension?

Why post an image of a glass that's half empty glass when we are clearly in a glass is half full situation? Rag!
False! That is clearly a picture of almost entirely empty space!

This obviously confirms Haaland is off to RM in the summer.

Media wankfest incoming
Damn, missed my chances to get the best odds on a “lessen the agony” bet on a Liverpool win.

Jokes aside, hope we don’t risk him. We have a tough run-in and it isn’t worth risking losing Haaland for the remainder of the season just to potentially beat Liverpool.

We aren’t Spurs.
