North Stand Construction Discussion

No. The South Standers by relocating to the North stand can stay an extra two minutes and still be in the queue for the tram at the same time. So emptying out will start on 84 mins…..

I'm going to have to leave early to catch one of the buses outside the South stand, making my way around the ground. I'm not waiting for a tram.

Well you’ll have to leave earlier. 79 mins…. Lol. Will that be from the all new Electric bus depot located on Mary Ds site ?

i wonder if the hotel is attached to the stadium so it can be counted as club revenue for FFP?
The Shed Bar attached to Stamford Bridge, whose toilets were in part of the hotel complex, used to show games that were not on telly, people queueing outside to pay £10 to get in 2004 as we were leaving for the bar for the game. It was cheaper beer there than the ground.

I think they got past broadcasting rules as it was shown in the ground and therefore CCTV rather than broadcast. I can see a few quid being made that is football related, but not sure what part of the income from the overall hotel is football related,

Well, must be me, but I find that just downright weird.
The idea of standing in a bar watching a match on a screen, knowing that the actual match was happening perhaps 100 yards away. Are you saying that people could get to watch the match live for £10? I suppose that makes some financial sense given what the cost of a seat is at Stamford Bridge (or holding a season card, which is not cheap there). But even then… the sheer fag of getting on the tube or bus and then trekking across London to do that (that's going to set you back £10-20 right there). Why not just pay the monthly subscription to Sky or whoever? It's not much more. Yes, obviously, not all Chelsea's matches were on Sky or whoever, even then. But no, sorry, beats me… or have I misunderstood you?

Had a few comments from "acquaintences" of the red persuasion about why are we increasing the capacity to over 60k because we cannot sell the seats we currently have , which only proves these pricks are mostly Sun readers and still think the moon is made of cheese

Don't know what the queue is for season cards alone, but I believe it's fairly lengthy.
Is it even worth engaging discussion with these know-nothings, though?

Thanks.

Looks good, bar, Hotel shocker!

So the Hotel also overlooks the fan plaza/roof, as well as the left leg box at ground level.

No wonder the Etihad is still in the running to host Euro 2028.
Talk of a 300m total price, if you wanted a totally iconic looking hotel etc , I would imagine the cost would be considerably more.

Same thing with the Arena, internally it looks superb but for me the exterior is so disappointing for such a huge and important facility.

Take a look at this new concert hall in Vegas

Now that is iconic and stunning.

It was for games that could not be broadcast on TV.

Far better to have it joined to the stadium as there will be so many advantages for hotel guests.

Internal access to the Sky bar and other lounges within the Etihad for events functions etc is the biggest plus.

Maybe a separate taller structure would look better, but functionality for a hotel connected to the stadium far better practically in my opinion.
Agree charge a fortune then expect them to tramp across to the groundbin the glorious Manchester weather

Can’t really understand the negative comments re the Hotel given we presently have few details and no images that give us much insight… we may be better to wait until we know something before passing comment.

Not being negative, just a concern about the possible appearance of the ground level section of the hotel. Regardless of the building and where it is, I absolutely hate plain boxed shaped buildings with numerous small square windows. I appreciate other people won’t be bothered about the buildings appearance.

One quick example I could find. I’m not saying the exterior of the City hotel will resemble this hotel.

From the new CGI Hello City posted, the Hotel seems to have 3 sections? A ground floor section opposite the stadium, the middle and upper floor sections above and overlooking the indoor fan plaza, which looks like they are connected to the back of the North stand?

I’m guessing the hotel ground floor section will contain the more affordable rooms, whilst the 2 hotel upper floor sections will contain the more expensive rooms giving access to the corporate floor/s housing the restaurants, bars, which over look the inside of the stadium and the pitch. The upper side of the Hotel has 2 blank side walls. All speculation of course on my behalf. :-)

Apologies. Enlarging the picture effects the picture quality. But you can still make out what I’m guessing at.

Can't say I'm over awed with that visual.

Spoils the symmetry of the stadium and definitely has business park Premier Inn vibes....
Let's wait to see more details though.

I guess that's my point. I know you are passionate about this stuff and I applaud you and love your enthusiasm and the stuff you post. However, you are worrying about a thrown together image which is blurred and difficult to see and completely missing the point re our owners - this hotel is going to be an extension of our corporate offering - is there anything Premier Inn about the Tunnel Club? Absolutely not. This sky lounge will be quite something and it will be housed in a very plush and probably expensive hotel - where the process will be premium but the average guest will stay one or two nights. I am very confident the changes will be aesthetically pleasing and probably have quite a wow factor.

The CGI looks nothing like the Premier inn pic you have posted other than shape.

Those that have seen the plans properly say it looks brilliant.

For the love of God, I did say that in the post. I give up!

Do you actually read anything I post or do you just dive in constantly fishing for a row?

‘Regardless of the building and where it is, I absolutely hate plain boxed shaped buildings’.

Repeat. I don’t like boxed shaped buildings.(similar to the ground level section of the hotel). And I’m not saying the hotel exterior in the picture is anything like the proposed ground level City hotel exterior.

Maybe I should just wait until the planning application is submitted becore making any further comments?

Not worrying. Just discussing. It’s not a thrown together image.(CGI)
It’s a CGI of the proposal, unless we have a person who posts on BM who is very good at creating good CGI’s? Was it you, HelloCity? ;-)

We know it is. I didn’t say there was anything Premier Inn about the Tunnel Club. I didn’t mention the Tunnel Club. My comment was about the look of the ground level hotel, not it’s offering.

Thank you, Somapop.
