Mosquitos and bites

in 1993,i took paludrin daily double.dose and cholaquin weekly ,still caugh malaria as did many other travellers i met, truely awful disease
I was out in West Africa in Early 2000. Quite a few of my colleagues got a full blown dose, and I know one guy who almost died.

I was taking Larium (Mefloquine) weekly (on a Thursday). It's a truly awful drug, but I suppose it was better than getting a dose of malaria.

i was lucky,i came out with it my last few days,i got treated back.in the UK.
The medics thought i had HIV originaly when i went in,early 90's. similar symptoms to.malaria etc.
they put me.on quinine and within a few hours i was so much better, sent me virtually death though all.the time i was on it ( quinine ).
i wouldnt wish malaria on my worst enemy.pain beyond belief, killed more people worldwide than wars, and still.today

Close all openings to the bedroom, and kill them all using a rechargeable mosquito bat (should be quite cheap to buy like 2 pounds).

A hot teaspoon straight out of your freshly made brew pressed on the bite removes the protein that causes the itching.
Alternatively Avon skin so soft spray works as a deterrent

Every bite I get becomes totally inflamed and often infected. They have almost completely ruined some holidays in the past.
I know it doesn't work for everyone, but it does for me .... Vitamin B12 one tablet everyday for two weeks before a trip, and continue during it. I also use Boots own tropical strength repellent too. Last three holidays, including one of two weeks in Dalyan, Turkey which is on a river (and where I have had the worst bites ever in the past) and not a single bite.
Funny as I’ve never ever been bothered by them, having been plenty of places in Europe, and even North Africa, Caribbean, Canaries, that is until I went to Turkey, fuckin things ate me alive, so I may give that a try.

I’ve just put it down to a change in hormones and body chemistry etc with age, I’ve become intolerant/allergic to quite a few things over the last few years, even eggs, which I’ve eaten shit loads of over the decades.

Yep the hot teaspoon definitely works, just make sure it’s not too hot, don’t want a burn on top of a bite.

Nasty little bastards, hate them. Getting more allergic to them as I get older, I'll probably die from the next wasp sting I get, epipen's only delay the hospital and the last one I got was not pretty. Long sleeves, collared shirts and head net for me this summer... if we ever get one

I am prone to bites , i scratch the top off, squeeze out the fluid , put fucibet cream on and put a plaster on to stop me scratching it , works a treat

This was my arm a few years ago after eating in the evening by some water in Spain....locals said a mix of lemon juice & water was way forward....and it does.View attachment 74977
Looks like black fly bites to me. 10x worse than mossie bites. Were you constantly scratching your shoulder?

These are black fly bites
