Barry, like a lot of Guardian journos, comes across as someone who doesn't even like football.
Watches games in the pub and then gets paid to go on a podcast to talk about them though
It's what happens when you're in your 50s and live alone on a diet of Guinness, Sunderland VHSs and bitterness.
 
When I watch Chelsea now I always refer to him as the £106,000,000.00 player.

When Jack signed for MCFC I almost forgot his name. The whole footballing fraternity referred to him as; "the hundred million pound man".

If ever there was a "Two tales of One City" - the difference between the coverage of City v Bayern and Rags v Sevilla was night and day. Paul Scholes and the other rag cheerleaders being disrespectful to Sevilla, saying they expected to put the tie out of sight, 4-0, blah blah and then waxing lyrical about Antony, the love-in for the highest scorer it Europe (wrong) was just unreal - delighted when Sevilla got two at the end to claim a draw, first one from Jesus Navas!
