That article is about as current as Arsenal’s title hopes!
And, thank you for that! :-)
Chicago is a big place, and the VAST MAJORITY of it occurs in a small geographic area. That said, the more affluent areas are starting to see their increases and it’s one of the reasons I live in a nice tree-lines suburb 30 miles outside the city, with excellent train service into town!

The big green “ball” in the NW is O’Hare Airport. I live another 7-10 miles NW of there!
My wife grew up here and her parents are a few streets over. Literally outside our front door is a 24 acre park with 3 outdoor pools, tennis courts, baseball and football fields and a walking path around it.
I can walk to downtown and eat any kind of food imaginable in 10 mins. If I hop on the train there, I can be in downtown Chicago in 30 mins. I’m also a 15-20 min drive to work at the airport.
It is safe, good schools, lots to do, excellent village management, and the Chicago Bears just spent $200M to buy the Arlington Park Racetrack to build a stadium and surrounding area to rival anything anywhere in the world, of a similar scale to the whole Etihad Campus.
So, I don’t really think too much about the daily murders in Chicago neighborhoods because I’m fortunate enough to rarely if ever having to go anywhere near them! Sadly, Chicago crime is usually the first 5 mins of every newscast, but it’s the same story in the same places, with the names and faces changing! No-one saw anything EVER…and tomorrow comes retribution…lather, rinse, repeat!
Make no mistake, I know I’m fortunate to have choices. Thankfully, my In-Laws made a great one about 55 yrs ago and raised my wife here, and she wanted to raise our own kids here. The number of long term, multi-generational families in the Village is very very high, because we have excellent highway and rail nodes to serve as a Chicago commuter village.
