The Conservative Party

All bar 2 accusations dismissed.

His downfall is probably just having high standards and calling out shit work, which is obviously not allowed these days.

Thinking about it, you might be have a point re. not being able to do anything about incompetent people who are shit at their job. For a number of years now we've been subject to the most useless and dangerous government in living memory but they still appear to be in a job.

If you think Raab is an exemplar of high standards can I borrow your bong please?

No, ministers can call out poor work but they need to do it without being a bully.

It'll be interesting to see what the bullying behaviour was, because he's claimed they cleared him of shouting, swearing or anything physical.

I assume it will be to do with repeatedly trying to humiliate people infront of the rest of the office.

It’s not about Raab or any other individual minister, it’s about maintaining high standards across the upper echelons of the civil service, and being able to intervene when these standards are breached.

The past few years have produced countless examples of poor judgement and behaviour by senior civil servants - Partygate in particular - and it’s important that ministers (of all persuasions) are able to tackle this without fear of being hauled up for bullying. That’s why I’m uneasy about simply calling out Raab on this as he may actually be right.

Obviously for many on here, he’s just another Tory so and so who was obviously in the wrong. They may, however, want to have a look at some of the allegations made against Labour’s last prime minister, and consider how these were covered up at the time. He makes Raab look like a complete snowflake.

Have you considered waiting to read the report and what he actually did before rushing to his defence?

The parting words from someone being sacked for bullying are unlikely to be an objective assessment of the situation.

There's been some video evidence released.

Has anyone else on here waited for the report before launching off on one?

I agree with your earlier comment that the report should make for interesting reading given that he was cleared of shouting or swearing at anyone. Bullying can of course take other forms, but his article in the Telegraph adds a bit more flavour. Again, it’s his interpretation of the report, but I would personally not view his alleged conduct as constituting bullying. But, again, that’s his interpretation as detailed in the Telegraph.

I actually had some vague optimism about Sunak, thinking he might be the best of a bad bunch and do a decent enough job steering the ship for a few years.

Unfortunately, this and the Braverman episode has shown him to be just as big of a crony proliferating weasel as the rest of them.

I absolutely hate it when a minister resigns in disgrace and the PM sends out a letter congratulating them on their fucking “achievements”.

Nobody is out here discussing Savile’s contributions to Top of the Pops.

Such a bad look. Tell the bloke he’s a **** and move him on.

You're probably right. When multiple people formally accuse somebody of being a bully they are always bullies in my experience so I have no doubt he behaves like a prick. Treat people well and they treat you well.

I really dislike people with those traits. It goes against everything I believe both in management and in life. And it doesn't work either.

so the general consensus is that the Raab resignation letter paints a different light to what the report actually says which is more detailed and more damning

I think I’ll take the word of the independent lawyer appointed by the government, Adam Tolley KC, over some client journo of Raab writing an article in a sympathetic newspaper. And that’s without seeing the report. I think we can assume from Raab’s subsequent actions that the report doesn’t doesn’t put him in a particularly good light and is not open to much interpretation.

Is Raab a Narcissist?

His statement gives off those vibes.
He’s a narcissist alright but he’s surrounded by similar ones, all well out of their depth but unable to realise and accept this fact due to their extraordinary self-regard and delusional belief in their own abilities, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
‘Braverman syndrome’ would be a good name for it.

Does this hopefully mean the **** will never run for leader of the Conservatives now? Can't stand this pathetic excuse of a man, if he was on fire I'd stamp on him to put it out.

Tories will be better off for it in the long run, find someone actually capable.
