Our Badge

You know the real sad part of all this?

There is ACTUAL fucking racism in football, and the world, to be tackling and having conversations about.

Instead, people are campaigning against a ship put on a badge in 2016, that looks like a ship that's been on previous badges, that looks like a ship previously associated with the canals, that looks like a ship on the coat of arms, that was put there 35 years too close to when slavery was happening, over 200 years ago. Fuck right off.

If it wasn't bad enough with the main stream and social media groups incessantly attacking us (often with made up lies). We have so called city fans fabricating stories on their behalf to hand everybody another stick to beat us with.

I'm sure when they originally created the badge and the coat of arms before that they thought 'let's stick a slavery ship in there we were really good at that'. Fucking pathetic.

I am against prejudice and injustice. This City fan is entitled to his opinion regarding the ship on our badge. No issue with that. If people want to discuss this issue that is fine. But, that's all that should happen. City were created after slavery was abolished. The ship can also be seen as a positive thing associated with Manchester and that is why it's on the badge not because of slavery. Unless someone can prove that Manchester chose to include the ship because of some desire to recommence the slave trade there really is no case to answer.

Why should anyone from LONDON, so no affinity to Manchester, have any influence on what happens to OUR badge?

It's total fucking nonsense...unless it's money they want?

He clearly is. I disagree with what he’s saying, but don’t really like this trend of claiming people aren’t Blues for having different opinions.
He doesn't have a "different opinion". He is literally depreciating Manchester's history.

These kind of people should understand that is not possible to erase the history.

Yes, slavery is wrong, but it IS in the history books and no matter how much you dislike it, it will be there forever.

As I said previously in this thread, Egypt's pyramids were also made by slaves. More than half of the things that we consider "masterpieces" are related with slavery, robbery, and many other "bad" things.

Following this mentality, we should destroy all of them. We should burn every book that speaks about the past, because we consider it is "not correct".

We should eliminate everything and live in a fantasy world in where nobody is offended by the things that happened in the past, isn't it that?

This is not a Man City or Man United issue. I think that both sides of Manchester should be together in this and shut the mouths of this people.

You don't like our history? I respect you, but that doesn't give you the right of try to change it.

He may be just a fan of the women's team and not the men's. It's all the rage, he can then wear an Arsenal shirt all the time and still claim to be a City fan, and gullible moral guardians will lap it up.

Anyone seen this?:

You know when someone’s chatting shit when Piers Morgan comes across as the voice of reason.

This road we appear to be on, isn’t going to end well.

If people become more easily offended (as they undoubtedly are) that makes for a more violent, disharmonious society.

How can it not?

For a society to function, there has to be give and take, both ways. Attacking a football club’s badge in that way does not represent much ‘give’.

I'm getting sick and tired of this bullshit surely it just turns normal sensible people against woke.

I mean like someone else posted what next the blue peter ship ?

What surprises me is how liverpool with streets name after slave traders and a city built on slave trade gets a free pass.
Why isnt there up roar about this and liverpool streets names ?

Why pick on Manchester again ?

It certainly gives credibility to using the word ‘woke’ as a derogatory jibe.

It’s a load of bollocks all this, grounded in a lie n’all. The ship does not represent slavery.

We took a democratic vote on the badge, the ship stays where it is, and be proud. Never mind all this anti-history shite, Our History is what it is and stays as a reminder of the good times and bad, and we must learn from it for the good of us all. To destroy it is at everyone's peril, but to associate a ship on our badge directly connected to the slave trade is purely based on ignorance. Some of the British media is a form of brainwashing power, so get to F--k

An Arsenal fan you say? Woolwich Arsenal ammunition factory? They made weapons used against countries the British Empire wanted to control and exploit.
Arsenal should have points deducted this season for that alone and be forced to remove the cannon on their shirt

How long before Pep gets asked about this, or has he already?
Is the club keeping quiet in order not to give this hysterical and unhistorical nonsense more attention? Or as posted before should they issue a firm statement "the ship is for the M'cr Ship Canal and has nothing to do with slavery. Final answer." I think yes they should.

Graham Stringer MP apparently likes the ship. But he is a right dodgy fucker.
That first paragraph is a fucking disgrace. People need to stop calling it Slave Ship, quotation marks or not. But then using it as an example of institutional racism and claiming anyone is 'turning a blind eye', just fuck right off.

Where are the 'hey it's only one opinion, there's no campaign here' lot now? That's 9 articles now, 5 TV segments, 3 Radio segments, just that I have seen. And the tone has now shifted from debate and questioning whether there is any possible way to link the two, to now just accepting it represents slavery with discussion now quickly skipped to what should he done about it and when.

It will happen. It will get removed. Enough meaningless noise will be made, someone of the three will buckle and virtue signal, and the other two will have to follow. And it will be a meaningless gesture that will frustrate, while elsewhere genuine discrimination gets to continue.
