Sheffield United (N) | FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

When we played them in the semi a few years back it was horrific. On the main road to the stadium (managed to blag good parking) the rag fans were so horrendous we were convinced they would turn our car over.
They were throwing beer at the police horses. We covered our club colours and drove through.

It was like a fucking zombie apocalypse. Terrifying.
Dont think id take the kids if it was V the scum in all honesty

Nor weird seen the times we’ve been at Wembley the last 12 years. And the opponent. And the way the game went. So one-sided.

It’s also known as reality.

Not saying I approve. Just saying I can understand.

What I do not understand is so many empty places in the Sheffield end.
It wasnt even that. I was sat right next to an entrance and saw 3 blokes strolling up to their seats with a beer and having the stewards explain that you cant take beers to seats at football. I mean, its only been 40 years ..

Great to see so many families at the game yesterday.
This for me is along with our team is where we have made the biggest strides forward.
Got chatting to the guy in front of me. He had no interest in football, supports no one but his lad is City mad so he takes him to as many games as poss.
Its akin to the junior blues movement in the 70s. Our success will safe guard our attendances for years to come

Incredible to think that there are now 12 years olds and under who do not know what poor seasons are.
There must be utd parents throughout the land fearful that their children will become Blues because of our style of play.
Imagine being a kid and watching Haaland,KDB,Jack,BernardoJohn Stones etc and thinking only one team for me from now on.
Haaland and Jack must be up there as the most popular players ever for youngsters in the modern game.

It's definitely a shit hole mate... should play semi finals at a neutral venue unless 2 southern teams
I know what you mean but.
I moan every day about Wembley until the day of the game.Yet in most games I have had a great day out.
Even the underground after the match is well organised if you show a little bit of patience and common sense.

It's disgraceful in this day an age, they need flinging in the back of a police van and locked away, preferably for life.
To be honest the behaviour on our side of the ground before that game wasn’t much better. Any united coach going past was absolutely pelted with cans outside the Greyhound. It would certainly be a moody day against them which is a shame when there are so many kids and families at the games now.

Same clowns will be cheering for him when he puts on an England shirt!
Oh and they had large sections of empty seats!View attachment 76161
The empties on the top shelf were matched by an equal number of empties on our side, but we covered the seats.
The empties on the bottom shelf were not matched on our side. They also had a smaller section of empty seats on the opposite side.

My nephew is 17 and really knows nothing other than us being brilliant

Think there's a lot of truth in that. And kids can draw people back to attending live who have maybe dropped off going a bit. So kid friendly very important

It will never be like that again. Their tickets were available to anyone. Ours sold out to season ticket holders. Thousands of city fans congregated at the green man and even more on the roundabout and entered and left the stadium by that route. Wembley way itself was 90% United fans for that reason, which was where there were reports of bullying. City’s firm even ballsed the whole thing up by not even getting to Wembley way because they didn’t know their way about.

3 months later we played them in the charity shield and the situation was reversed. city’s lads marched up Wembley way unopposed and there were no problems for anyone.

I hate hearing blues with an inferiority complex There would be absolutely nothing whatsoever to be frightened of in a cup final. It would most likely be City’s day on and off the field.
Appreciate the sentiments but there will be two 68 Yr olds and a 5 year old amongst us.
In days gone by I'd be loud proud and not one step backwards today it needs a but more caution.

I know people often complain about the atmosphere when there are more and more families coming but, ultimately, youth interest and attendance is the most important thing for the club.

If you use the youth fans, you literally lose the future.

Something we should all be mindful of more generally in our daily lives, as well, as it applies far beyond football.

The crowd was interesting, lead to believe Sheff U had sold loads and we struggled to shift em.

Their end was empty, loads of gaps, empty sections yet ours seem to be full and seats sold in all sections!
I thought that. The BBC didn’t seem to notice with their report suggesting there were gaps everywhere. Very poor turnout from Sheffield United considering they’ve not been to Wembley since 2009 or in a Wembley semi in living memory, and considering they’re from a big city.

Yep and 7 or 8 year old soon grow into raucous 16 year olds

But you can only have loads of families if there are loads of spare tickets, which means playing semi-finals at Wembley. The obvious neutral ground yesterday was Elland Road where the capacity is a tad under 38,000.
More people would want to go so fewer access for families unless all are ST holders.
I doubt SUFC would want to play at the swamp as a neutral venue, and the wrong end of the East Lancs would be a transport nightmare.

I went by coach from the Etihad..set off at 7.15 and was at Wembley by 12.40..gave me a chance to watch the under 18s but can't understand why coaches went so early.
Probably worse for me as I don't drink so it was a long wait for game...
Would definitely prefer the semi final to be played at a neutral venue..but it's all about the money to the F.A.
But at least we won with no dramas no injuries and giving game time to other players.

Blades on Wembley Way singing 'Just like Sheffield your city is red'......I don't fuckin think so, lol.
Walked through these knobs back to the car, plenty of them goading and looking at us, me, my partner, 8 year old step son, 75 and 74 year old parents. One saying city fans are all wankers, utter gucking shithouse.

Then there’s a little scuffle with them ahead of us with some other blues. Drink and Coke not a good mix.
