Bury Times saying the 2nd vote will now go ahead
Yes same old arguments are being fling although I have read that the AFC guy Phil Young has offered to stand down to help the merger go ahead, this shit is so bitter now

I don't want to upset the people of Bury, however:

"Funding of £1.3m is available in total - £450,000 from Bury Council and the rest coming from the government's levelling up fund."

Respectfully, given the current financial situation of many in this country, how can the above be justified?? Football clubs, whilst being important to the community, shouldn't be given public funds

Football clubs are extremely important to their communities. Both culturally and economically

I'm not getting into arguments on here, I stated:

So yes - important - but I suspect if you asked the residents of Bury "should we spend £1.3m on a football club", the answer would be a resounding NO

It probably works out about 10 quid per head in one go. And then the projected economic gains for businesses going forward year on year.
Lots of people might object to public funds going on other stuff - cycle lanes, Pride festivals, hanging baskets and landscaping in the shopping centre, whatever. There'll always be some grumps who know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.

Funds were allocated , signed off ages ago via Gove, before the Tories vote disintegrated. Several local businesses will benefit and the negative impact on a some peoples mental health has been very clear. Crowds around 1500 at tier 9 plus a boost to that tier in general will filter through and to be fair the original club was expelled with little help from the football " family ".

Burys spending in the 2/3 years before they folded was crazy for a club of that size/ income. Ryan Lowe had players on big big money for that level. Probably wasn’t his fault as he wasn’t paying the wages but it was the fans who paid for it eventually.

Delighted to be back at GL, estimate I've seen around 1000 games at Gigg, including The Central League back in the 1970's, anyone remember that?
We need to move up the leagues as quickly as possible.
Hope some of you Blues can get down to GL for a game or two next season.
I've no big allegiance to City but really hope you win the treble, if you win things then that lot at Old Trafford
(not LCCC) can't and that'll do for me.
If my mate Neil reads this, dyed in the wool blue, texted me happy beneathus day on Thursday, very witty along with Ten Bob'.
This has been doing the rounds, doubtless some of you have seen it.

Does that mean the Good Sheikh can now dip his hand down one of the sofas and finance MCFC with Abu Dhabi money rather than his own? Has Wenger mentioned anything? Has Uefa been in touch? I wonder if Bury poll tax is set to rise?

And, of course, how many Bury folk will actually turn up on a matchday and shove loot into the club's coffers week in and week out?

Good luck I hope all the division and bitterness can be left behind. I know there are marked people after the split. Hopefully, exciting times ahead.

Good to hear that common sense has prevailed and the merger went through. I'll nip down and watch the odd game at Gigg Lane. Good luck next season.
