Might as well be Motherwell!

Got home and watched the whole game again over a few beers. These days are to be enjoyed and cherished.

Still annoyed by the stupid handball rule, but completely baffled the KDB non pen.

Best team still won. Comon you blues , lift that third !
The ref was clearly under instruction to make it interesting

I only heard them when they realised their best player var was going to help them again and when rat face scored. Those hats were a massive own goal it made them look even more stupid than normal.
I guess when the crows fly over, the hat is a decent size bullseye target for them to hit.
Joking aside, the hats could make useful window cleaning cloths, or dog poop scoops.

Gundogan’s first goal was not only the fastest ever in the final, it was a banger and will be forever remembered. What a goal
After 40 years of Ricky bloody Villa, being the 'goto' goal when TV want to show a montage/talk about the FA Cup, it will be nice to have the 20 seconds (including part of celebration) on instead.

It's a handy, short, all encapsulating piece with a marvellous strike in it.

Bonus: As per the PL repeated Agueroooooo moment, it's at the expense of united.

It would have been interesting to know which United players were targeted by WB's header since there are none in any kind of range. The penalty area was peopled by blues, so Jack was not seeking to gain an advantage. Nor was it a penalty by the letter of the law, because the law still requires handball to be deliberate. As I have said earlier Jack was not trying to cheat nor was he trying to gain an advantage by breaking any rule: he was not looking at WB or the ball but simply trying to turn to see the play and THE BALL HIT IS HAND. VAR chose to reach the perverse conclusion that Jack had handled the ball deliberately. Those who seek to justify such stupidity are ruining the game and trying to make the outcome of cup finals dependent on nothing more than chance. Surprisingly enough it has been suggested that it would simplify the game if ball to hand were classed as deliberate handball. It would certainly simplify the game, but it would also ruin it. Funnily enough there has been less discussion of whether a stud stamping tacle on the ankle should be a mandatory red card or not. I wonder why.
As I said: "By the letter of the (current) law it was a penalty. Now whether the law is fit for purpose, is another matter altogether. Both Alistair Mann & Michael Brown thought the same as me as soon as they saw the replay."

It is what it is, but luckily for us Mr Whippy stepped up to save the day again... \0/

More likely the soft cunts on bbc, itv will go with United’s penalty.

I see the fantasy that United "got back into the game" is still being peddled. I missed that bit on Saturday. What I saw was a team that scored the fastest ever goal in a cup final and dominated the game from then on. After half an hour the rags managed to get into our final third and were awarded the most ridiculous penalty because he who must be obeyed in the VAR studio chose to ignore the law and interpreted Jack's actions as deliberate handball. "Bruno" rolled home the penalty but United were in the game only to the extent that the scores were level. By any other standard they continued to be second best by a long way. Can anyone remember Ortega having to make a save? The only one that comes to my mind was the block in the second minute of stoppage time. I believe it was the old rag, Dublin, who said it was "men against boys"

the issue is the letter of the law is only followed in champions league games. The FA decided some time ago to apply a bit more common sense approach to handballs since at least xmas time. There's loads of examples where proximity was used not to give penalties for example. So the question is why did they change to harsh rules for this game again. I think I know why

Proximity was the issue when it was if the ball hits your hand in the penalty area, it was a penalty.

They then watered it down with hand to ball, ball to hand & proximity.

Those have been replaced by unnatural position, proximity & hand to ball. It's still open to interpretation & as it stand I'm fucked if I know what the rule is THIS WEEK, as it'll probably be different to what it was last week.

I've no idea how the football authorities intend to resolve this to the satisfaction of the majority...
