Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

The shuttle bus system was an absolute disgrace. Especially for the elderly, disabled and kids. How someone wasn't seriously hurt is an absolute miracle. One poor lad on our bus after the game just couldn't take any more and jumped out and crashed out on a grass verge. Then when we eventually got going, how was it safe to allow a bus rammed with people like sardines to then travel at speed? Shocking. But as it was only us involved, we'll probably not hear much about it.

I was very disappointed not to go and three of my mates did. They all had shit to and from the ground. After reading all 15 pages my heart goes out to everyone. The saying not able to organise a piss up in a brewery comes no were close. Would have ruined a great day out for everyone.
Constantinople is a wonderful city, they have welcomed us with open friendly arms.

This appalling and dangerous situation is all on UEFA.

They must be held to account !!

The transport arrangements were a joke, the busses to the stadium were bad, but after the game it became a nightmare, by the time a I got to the busses, there were none showing for the International Airport, I was on the 4am flight so at first thought I had time, eventually one Bus said it was going to the Airport, I was lucky to get on first and got a seat, it then sat not moving for the best part of 1.5 hours, for the people standing it was terrible, finally got to the Airport about 3.30am, it said last call for the flight, then a 30 minute delay, by the time I hit the departure gate there was 30 people ? so lots missing, the plane did wait and more got on, but when we took off there were still people missing ???. Absolute joke.

UEFA have just sent a survey out via email to ask for feedback on the matchday experience.

20-30 minutes to get served at the bars in the ground. Credit card machine couldn't get a signal. Cash only. Etc

Beer ran out in the fan park. I was in the last beer tent that had beer. Everyone piled in. Utter chaos. 100's at the bar queuing for beer. Bar staff saying beer sold out, pointing to the tip pots, put a tip in, which the staff took out and pocketed, and the beers arrived. Not arsed as it was only a few quid. UEFA were getting ripped off big time. Good! The staff were selling beer for cash and keeping the money.
20 odd mins was good. You were lucky. Was double that for us, luckily i didnt go at half time where the lad that did came back on 77 mins with 3 cups of water… having missed the goal

I will never not boo those cunts after last night’s fiasco….

Very good article in the independent tbf.

I don't think the shuttle buses were a bad idea.
It makes sense to split the fans up to reduce the risk of trouble.
If they were organises much better it would have been fine. They needed more buses to reduce the numbers on them and some sort of bus lane that stopped them getting stuck with all the other traffic and it would have been fine.

Utter fucking shambles after. Must have been the most polite bus driver in world, all the other coaches and taxis were cutting in front. Didn't move for an hour and a half. Stadium and organisation were not fit for purpose.

They literally couldn’t have done anything worse if they tried

The car park was gravel (being kind)

Zero organisation as to where to go

Steep in parts, helped to drag people in wheelchairs thru it, UEFA should be embarrassed

All the coaches/taxis/private transfers were facing the stadium so they all had to do a turn/reverse while 5000 fans were walking thru the middle of it

Carpark bottle necked into a road that was at a standsill
Then when you eventually made the tarmac road, it was blocked with loads of taxi’s and people walking down the dual carriage way

UEFA dont give a fuck!! I will boo the fuckers forever

The shuttle buses were a bit useless but I wanted to say Istanbul has been a fantastic host city and the Inter fans are a credit to themselves.
Istanbul is great, the stadium is great. But the transport infrastructure make it totally inadequate as a host city.

It took us two hours to get there, two hours to queue for a burger, and two hours to get back.

That’s 6 hours out of a 12 hour day absolutely unavoidably wasted on being able to watch a 90 minute match.

It was the most diabolically organised event of any kind I’ve ever attended. Anyone who’s seen the Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix will see the similarities.

I’ve visited most of the big stadiums in Europe and I’d say the only two that are fit for purpose to host the CL Final is Wembley and the Allianz. Genuinely think those two should just have it on rotation until somewhere else can get their shit together.

Thankfully, they are then next two final venues.

Liverpool fans have already started filling out the compensation forms ! They weren’t there it wasn’t there fault but the freeloading twats will try anything!

It’s not rocket science is it.

Just in Antalya waiting for a flight home and checked my email. I’ve got a fan survey from UEFA about my experience at the final as apparently “fans are at the heart of their tournaments”!

I will make sure to fill this in when I get home!

Bus from SAW airport to fanzone at 7 Saturday morning took 2.5 hours. Driver didn’t have a fucking clue where he was going, did a U turn on motorway, had to get a random bloke off the street to jump in and give directions when we eventually got to town.

After the game was a fucking shambles. Didn’t get back to hotel until 4:15. Saw disabled people just left in their chairs by the side of that dirt road.

UEFA are an absolute joke
