Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

I totally agree with this now the euphoria has worn off and the full horror has sunk in a bit. I feel like reporting Ceferin for attempted murder. He has 4 club matches a year to organise, has had 3 extra years to ensure Istanbul is fit for purpose and was very probably more worried about his dinner menu than fans. 2 years on the bounce he has endangered supporters at the showpiece event he is responsible for. It is beginning to look deliberate and him, a psychopath as nobody could surely be that incompetent?
It will make no difference but I shall be writing to him and in the remarkable event if uefa replying I will post it in here. The main is a **** heading up an organisation of cunts. What’s uefa’s address? And the cunts wonder why we do them?

Was just a shit show from start to finish. Could not find the buses back to taksim. Police told us to go in a direction which ended up on the motorway away from anywhere. Families and old folk walking across motorways. I could not believe what i was seeing. It was disgusting and down right dangerous. We ended up in the back of a minibus ran by locals but it at least got us back. About 20 in back of mini bus. You can’t actually describe how bad it was. As for getting to ground and food drinks etc i think its been said enough. Surely there must be something we can do about this via city. Im just surprised not to hear of any fatalities as it was so bad.

I’d like to know how the street sellers were allowed inside the stadium to sell their wares (including alcohol and flares which were banned by UEFA)’at full time despite us all having to go through stringent security checks

It literally was like “the games over we couldn’t give a flying f**k about you lot - sort it out amongst yourselves and here’s 20 coaches”
Not just at full time pal, 3 hours before the game the cunts were openly selling flares after we had passed the first security check

Every Blue who was there should email our club about it and ask them to take it up with uefa on our behalf, cos the media won’t (apart from Martin Samuel). Fuck me, if we’d thrown a paper aeroplane, or told someone they weren’t incredible, or turned up 15 seconds late we’d be well in the shit. Corrupt, incompetent cunts

Funny how the same ticketing system that the scousers used worked perfectly for us, and it’s not as if any of them dippers were selling access codes or using the same email twice etc, and yet the media are full of stories supporting them, nothing about how shit we were treated

Feel for you guys with these stories, it's not the only one but it's one of the reasons I'd flat out decided not to travel as actually getting into the game and out of it in a reasonable smooth manner especially in a foreign country is a very important part of the 'matchday experience '.

Just so glad that apart from frustration & exhaustion you all seemed to manage it.

From what I've read and heard it sounds like complete chaos and an absolute disinterest in the needs of the fans, so I just want to say well done to all the blues out there for your calmness and forbearance. I assume the same applies to the Inter fans too.

It doesn't take much for situations such as have been described to turn into ugly or even tragic scenes. That they didn't sounds much more to do with the behaviour and resilience of the fans than any competency on uefas part.

In the face of, at best, indifference about fan welfare from the governing body, you looked after each other and kept each other safe through your behaviour. A credit to the club and the broader football community.

And yet we were warned, in no uncertain terms, not to use the metro. Incompetent waffa twats.
It’s just bollocks from UEFA isn’t it?
I arrived at 4pm on Friday at SAW and used the metro/marmoray to get to my hotel at Yenikapi. I arrived at 6pm and the service was really slick. Used the metro again on Friday evening to get to Taksim for a drink and something to eat. Used the metro again on Saturday to get to and from the ground. It was absolutely packed, but it kept everybody moving. Used it again on Sunday to get back to the airport. I didn’t see any trouble between any fans. UEFA caused there own problems with there pathetic organisation.

Heading back today, but I am going to write to the club. I can do with the poor buses for myself, but there were kids, older people and most worryingly disabled people who were stranded. The only disabled access to get out were taxis that were 1 to 3 miles from the ground over mud and gravel. I grabbed one half of a wheelchair with a fella pushing his wife just to give him a hand, but I don't know what happened to them. I couldn't believe how bad access was.

Sorry mate, not supporting dippers, but it wasn’t the same ticketing system. The Dippers had some(all?) paper tickets.

No surprises that UEFA are a disgrace, completely wrong choice of venue for a game of its size. No proper disabled access to the fan park. Having to push my brother in a wheelchair over the gravel and the poor surface was hectic and that was just the fan park! We took a taxi to and from the ground, it was an absolute nightmare trying to get to the taxi after the game. They then tried to add an extra £150 to the price agreed. My husband had the where with all to call them out and we asked them to take us to the police station and to stop the car and let us out. They had no shame and were prepared to leave us. Although we had the sense to only give them half the money when they dropped us off at the stadium, there was no way they were missing out on the rest and we eventually got back to the hotel with a bad taste in our mouths. Grateful to lots of blues along the way to getting to our taxi who helped us get the wheelchair through. Positives were that the people were lovely in restaurants and at the hotel. Had a great sing song with fellow blues on Friday and the boys won us the big pot.

I was talking to my son yesterday, he went to the Liverpool final in 2005(?) in Istanbul and I was saying about the problems you all had. He said it was the same for them, walking across the 'waste land' (his words) for miles. Luckily they didn't have problems with water but he said it was total shambles. I remember they ended up having to stay an extra night because they couldn't get back to the airport in time for their plane because of the chaos!!

So how the heck did UEFA assign the final to Istanbul again?

I apologise for my son being a Liverpool supporter, I went wrong somewhere with him!!! :-)

I had heard those stories too as I know a few dippers who went. I thought 17 years on, it can’t be that bad again, but it was. It was horrendous.
