I opposed everything David Cameron stood for. Likewise with Theresa May. But I can at least understand legitimate reasons why people might vote for them. But Boris was always completely unfit for public office. Not just an absolutely appalling human being in terms of his values (or lack thereof), but a complete fuckup when it comes to actually doing any work or respecting the rule of law. There were records of him threatening to have someone beaten up well before he was Mayor of London. He was only ever interested in being called the Prime Minister, not actually being one. And frankly, you had to be thick or not paying attention for 10 years to not realise that.

Yep, it's one thing to do your best and do what you think is right and get it wrong. It's quite another to demonstrably not give a shit, resulting in people dying. One is an honest mistake, the other is negligence.

Not that the laws in the UK would for a second allow someone in a powerful position to be tried for the consequences of their decision. *cough* Grenfell *cough*

You may have thought it overly theatrical but what about the substance of what she and the privileges committee said, do you agree with their findings or do you think he has in fact not misled the house and treated it with contempt?

People like Fabricant have been beyond the pale for some time but there will also be a (potentially significant) number of conservative MPs who on Monday will abstain in the vote on the report for fear of reprisals from their local memberhip. In doing so they will clearly be indicating that they actually don't give any sort of toss at all about parliamentary democracy they care exclusively about saving their sorry asses. Hopefully every single one of them will be packed off into obscurity at the next election.

Sometimes you can give the electorate the benefit of the doubt in it's choices but it was so crushingly obvious he was unfit for office that we as a population have to take responsibility too and try and learn some lessons.
