Declan Rice

Why is everyone so salty about Rice? Players are allowed to choose where they want to play. When we signed Aguero, David Silva and Yaya we weren’t the best team in the country but we sold the club to them. As City haven’t properly moved for Rice until this week maybe he’s already seen himself at Arsenal for months, knowing how he fits into the team and it means he can stay in London.

If anything it’s piss poor from City to have waited for Gundo to make a decision and not have someone lined up that we know will definitely come. Problem is that players of the status of Rice won’t have been happy to be told our move for them was dependent on a 32 year old leaving. & Kovacic is not a replacement for Gundo, if he was we wouldn’t have been in for Rice.

I’m not convinced Rice was the right profile of player to replace Gundo anyway, but then I don’t see many great attacking number 8s around either. Pep will find a way to make sure we are bang in the mix for every trophy regardless as he always does.
Do we really think that Gundo hadn’t made his mind up until the last week?

Beggars belief that we didn’t know he was leaving. Even if it wasn’t concrete we will have prepared thoroughly and professionally for his replacement such is the City way, post 2008.

Yea it looks like we have prepared thoroughly that’s why we have come in for a player who had already agreed to join Arsenal who had done the groundwork of the deal with Rice for months.

Piss poor to allow Gundo some time to decide his future after what he has done for city? This is an embarrassing view. Fuck sake have abit of respect. We don’t treat players like crap and long may it continue. If future transfers can’t wait to see if city are interested then fuck them. We are offering the best of the best in terms of a trainer and facilities alongside a nice wedge. Any player that don’t view it that way is welcome to walk on.

To be fair to Gundo, if he is going then the decision may not have been made until the game was won in Istanbul.. For me, even though I’m sad about it, there really isn’t a better time for a player to move on..

Just putting together the fact that most journalists are leading today with rice prefers arsenal. We’ve heard we are interested from people on here and other journalists. A bid was supposed to be imminent but hasn’t arrived West Ham side again according to West Ham journalists and city journalists and some ‘ITK’ on here. We haven’t distanced ourselves cuz it may still happen if arsenal can’t meet West Ham’s demands.

I could be completely wrong but it sounds the most logical explanation no? If we don’t trust what any of these journalists are saying what’s the point of this thread- we may as well just wait for official club announcements?
Let him come out and say I won't go to Manchester City.

Until then we're still in the game.

This won't come down to a fee or payment terms ,its all be on the player's preference...not necessarily professional ambition !!

I like Rice, he seems like a good lad and he'd do well for us, but I don't think he's a once in a lifetime generational player that we need to be all in for as we were with Haaland. I'd also be fascinated to see whether he can do it at the highest of levels with Arsenal. If he wants to come to us great but I won't be losing too much sleep if he doesn't. There will equally good options and better value elsewhere.

The part of that summation I don't understand would be that it may happen if Arsenal can't meet West Ham's demands. That'd be a weird one to me, as we don't seem to operate that way.

2nd ? That’s being optimistic for them,be lucky top 4 this coming season them bottle jobs
Other top teams that struggled last season will most likely get their arses in gear this season. Arsenal really did have a golden opportunity to win the league and bottled it.
Next season is going to be a lot harder at the top.

Yup,hence why I’m saying lucky to be top 4,and I ain’t taking piss I’m deadly serious

You’re right in a way. There’s many other reasons why a player might chose one club over another. The location, salary, status, nostalgia, playing time etc. As well as thinking that a team maybe on the cusp of greatness where another might be fading. However, every player in football should be able to see that Pep Guardiola is very special. Robin Van Persie joined Utd purely to work with Ferguson and we had won the league the year before. Pep will do two more years at City and I pray even more. After that he may never manage another club team again. I think any player who is serious about improving their game, should want to play with Pep whilst they can. I don’t think I’m arrogant in thinking that. Past players joined our exciting project. The project is pretty much realised now and Pep should be the pull for any serious footballer.
Exactly spot on. Right now we are best team in world with greatest manager too. To pass the on this shows that he not right for us.. People are leaving their home town for example KDB left home at 14 to become footballer. Look at Dias and Rodri moved across the country to play for
city. Haaland left Byrne going around Europe to become better footballer.

My point is London / Manchester argument is ridiculous and boils downs to taking on challenge to work under the best you need elite mindset bravery…

At City will be one of big fish not big fish in small pond. It’s about the collective not individual look no further than Bernardo Silva selfless and team player plays anywhere and at left back - when it’s not his position.

A new player has to buy into this philosophy, ethos and leave ego at door. This is not something all players can sign up to and struggle with such as cancelo

We had used the smallest squad and won a treble we will find right people. If Rice is not it then best of luck to him.

Never said anything about Gundo deciding, that’s his prerogative he’s earned it and he’s out of contract. But when he hasn’t committed by the end of the season we should have known where we were going to go. It’s hardly a shock he’s decided to go don’t think anybody with half a brain cell thought he was going to stay when he hadn’t signed by the end of the season.

Nobody doubts what we can offer players all the thing you mentioned but you are naive if you think the best players will wait til the end of June for confirmation we want them and that it’s because a 32 y/o has left.

But WHU have Arsenal by the balls and are gonna rinse you for a pretty average player. Pretty amusing for all - except Arsenal
He isn't an average player and if he goes to Arsenal, it will strengthen them.
We do not have to deny reality because a player may or may not decide to come to us.
We can have faith that our board know what they are doing.

It may be your reality but it isn’t mine. He’s a decent player but hardly in the top 10 or 20 midfielders in the premier league in my view
