If West Ham want Phillips then they wait to see if that deal is possible. It's a weird world football business, but Rice knows he is getting his move and he'll wait if West Ham are after a player as part of it. Of course our 294m prize money can't go to transfers 1:1.

We're still making operating losses. Only our transfer profit of 67m last year brought us to a total 41m net profit.

I guess we want a total transfer profit again.

I imagine the extra prize money, you would also potentially have sponsors pay us a bonus.

We would also have higher wages (due to bonuses), but I am sure we will come out on the good side.

I think despite this we won’t be spending over £100 million net, possibly less as I think perception wise with the charges etc. we have kept our powder dry.

Whether we like it or not, we have certainly worked hard to change the narrative and at times we have, you will hear about our low net spend and other clubs spending more etc.
