Declan Rice

Not really, we haven't agreed anything. Arsenal had agreed it all two weeks ago. Fee, structure of payments, wages the lot ! They made damn sure beating us to rice was all over SSN breaking news bar.
Perhaps they've overstretched themselves and are now looking for better terms
Surely time for Sheikh M to do a bit of money lending?

And they will be looking to drop that down to £10 million this year and then will probably pay £30 million next with Rice being and Gooners play what could West Ham do then? Look at Barcelona, they owe money all over the place.

If arsenal sign the contract to pay that amount in two years they have to or contract is null and void

From what I can gather, Barcelona haven't stumped up the money as agreed for the Ferran Torres transfer but that contract is not null and void

They'll jsut incur penalties and then get passed to the legal team to start proceedings to chase. The contract wont be ripped up.

IF Barca agreed to pay us x million per year for the fee and IF they have missed payment(s) then we could technically go down the legal route (and call in the "can't pay... we'll take it away" squad) but the optics of that would be really bad - I can't remember any club in recent memory doing it?

More likely we would lodge a complaint with EUFA (our best buddies lol) and they would force Barca to pay (or be fined, docked points etc) but I would imagine it's way better for us (at least for now) to have the Barca board onside and owing us one...

Wouldnt be surprised if the debt has been sold off and we have already been paid out.

They're just dotting the i's & crossing the t's. It's all done bar the shouting imo.

Gutted we didn't get him, but it's a position where there are several other options available...
He's second name is Rice not Mississippi, how many i's need dotting?
I'm not gutted we didn't get him, great player but I won't lose any sleep.

They thought we'd come back and match their offer.
I think they genuinely thought, “let’s get one over on City and up the bid” to then see us pull out and larvae them exposed. They don’t want to pay the amount they offered and are now trying to negotiate again on the fact it’s only them in the race. West Ham are sticking to their guns knowing Arsenal do want him but not at that price,I keep reading how ArseHal hold all the cards but I think West Ham do personally. I don’t see them not sorting this out but it’s clearly fucked up their plans and budget for other players lol.

Well I am only responding to conjecture should the deal with Arsenal fall through and my belief that we may be interested in Rice but only on our terms. Many deals are done for less than what a club said they wanted for a player. Also and very importantly the method of payment may be a big issue in this case. For example you may rather be paid 20,000 you are owed straight up rather than 22,000 over 4 years in annual installments.
Especially when £22000 over 4 years probably only worth equivalent of £18000 now given inflationary pressures

West Ham have tonight admitted they are in the dark over the completion of the Declan Rice deal. Reports from Sky Sports have said the delay is down to Arsenal lawyers but club insiders are at a loss to know what is happening after days of delays.
Asking a senior club source this evening to comment on Sky reports the response came back to 6foot2 "The Rice contract is supposed to be with their lawyers but WHO KNOWS what is going on"
