Yes but apart from Haaland and KDB who is a guaranteed starter? I would hope Pep can persuade Kyle to stay. He’s been and still is in my view an important player with brilliant attitude

I feel certain that conversation should it take place will be short and sweet. No way Pep would make a commitment like that. Current form and tactical considerations will determine the number of games Kyle will play next season if he ends up hanging around.

Perhaps. But I think the last thing our squad need is even fewer senior players, we already had the smallest squad in the league. So I hope any senior player that leaves will be replaced in the squad.

I just think we don't need to replace the right hand side, Phil needs a direct route to starting games now, certainly if Bernie and him can rotate.

If Bernie leaves, we absolutely need a right sided back up of serious quality.

Still pretty thin coverage though, given that Foden is also one of the only options we need for the left side as well, and that Bernie is also doubling up with Kev as our only top drawer central midfield attacking option. I do think Kovacic will be a good signing, but he's far more defensively inclined than Gunders was. Would love to see a flier brought in like Leao or Kvaratskhelia personally, but how well they'd fit in with the current masterplan I'm not sure. Can't quite shake the feeling that we're a Bernie tantrum (and I'm not for one moment suggesting he's that way inclined) from some self-inflicted agg as regards the transfer market......

Bernardo being said to be the Gundogan replacement according to city journalists if that’s true then we need a replacement for Mahrez as Phil would be the only player on the right. Plus Mahrez has been a quality and vital player on the right with goals and assists, he’s also rarely injured.

I thank him, but I won't miss Mahrez one bit.

He was very disappointing in the run-in, dialling it in and not even bothering to help when the kids were starting.

We have had our money's worth and I have always felt he plays the game for himself, rather than the team.

To get a decent fee for him at his age is miraculous.

Shoehorning Phil into Mahrez' position for next season simply means we'll need to find a replacement for Phil. We need to buy a Mahrez replacement if he goes. Plus, hasn't there been indications Phil will play central next season?

I agree. Our squad needs bolstering if anything, it was already a little too thin last season as you said.

I am not for all this moving current chess pieces around just to fill gaps in the squad. If that is the case, I think we are thinking of our financial future as maybe FFP won't deem us spending big money on replacements.

If a player of Mahrez' quality leaves he has to be adequately replaced, as does Bernardo.

These players are amongst the top 5 in their position in world football so why would be replace them with up and coming academy players or players like Foden who most believe his best future position is central and not on the wing.

Academy players are there to supplement the likes of Mahrez to alleviate any pressure on them whilst they get their feet under the table for a few seasons.
