Never heard of Barcola. Is he any good? Is he fast? Direct? Score many goals or able to dribble past defenders?

Is he better than Palmer?

Yes, Yes, Yes - but still raw

Yes, but has had more game time invested in his development. Palmer prob more suited to Pepball with a bit of experience.

This was supposed to be the window to further widen the gap with the other teams. By bringing in smart additions.

But I feel after the Treble we may have been complacent and allowed players wanting to leave to dictate and be in control by keeping us hanging until last week.

We should have been the ones dictating concrete timelines to players when we
Need answers by or they will be staying and no discussions would be had.

Now major deal is going to custard, and we seem from the outside running around trying to put some plan in place.

Best approach now:
Keep Laporte like managed to convince Bernardo to stay. Ask him one more season or till Jan, allowing us time to line up an alternative.

Walker: take the new deal or serve out one more year. We have given you best years of your career and now do us a favour.

And focus on keeping Bernardo under any circumstances. If he decides he wants to leave then just focus everything on getting his replacement. That’s all in this window.
Otherwise he stays aswell.

Time to play hardball.

A negative byproduct of allowing our players to bring offers in mid july and leave is that replacements have already been poached by other clubs. If we had known Mahrez is gone say, a month ago, maybe we could have persuaded Arda Guler.

Other than Haaland, KDB and Aguero, when have we managed to get our top target across the line? We failed with Bellingham, Rice, Koulabaly, Maguire, Alexis, Van Dijk, Hazard, and many others.

We always tend to get 2nd or 3rd on the list or relative unknowns, who're hungry to prove themselves.

I've made my peace with this is how Txiki operates.. so we'll find diamonds in the rough and not the jewelery store. Kind of like Julian Alvarez and Maximo Perrone. Don't be surprised if they have a bigger role this season.

And let’s be honest about it. It’s not like this hasn’t proved successful over the years is it. What will be will be.
