I have been fortunate enough to visit the United States on seven occasions for pre-season tours, dating back to 2003.
It is noticeable how the make-up of the crowd has changed in that time.
Twenty years ago, there was a novelty value to United turning up, there was applause at the wrong time in games and one of the stadium announcers even got Sir Bobby Charlton's name wrong.
Now, I have just been on a train packed with fans wearing replica shirts of all different years, with all different Arsenal and United names on the back.
These fans know everything about their clubs.
And over 80,000 will be here hoping to see their team win.

Don't see a lot wrong with this piece makes a valid point about the changing landscape in the states. I know he's a bit of a prick most of the time but it's pointless getting worked up about this.

Don't pay a subscription to Sly Sports is the answer.
If you want to watch it, IPTV costs a fraction of their extortionate prices and Sly don't get a penny.

I think the line in bold says it all. Probably a little dig about City there , when he says yank fans are knowledgeable about Arsenal and scum. Obviously the Japanese fans will have no idea who lickle old City are, that's what the prick is digging at

If he had written a similar article about Liverpool fans being racist he would be looking for a new job this morning.

The only reason he gets away with the constant shit he writes about City is that hardly any blues bother with The Athletic cause of it’s shocking City coverage.

Everything is written for the benefit of fans of other teams, and I bet his ‘City fans are racists’ hit the spot with them.

How much knowledge could he glean from a train ride? He may have spoken to a couple of fans or eavesdropped in a conversation but no way he can make that assessment, he’s just pandering to the red shirt wankers.

It’s not really extortionate, I pay £12 a week for Sky, I watch the Football, Cricket, Golf, Boxing and Horse racing, I have IPTV as well. Mrs H watches a pile of shite on the entertainment channel as well so for me it’s VFM.
 
Can’t believe these clubs are accepting Saudi money, surely a moral dilemma? Surely they’re now a part of sportswashing too?

Looking forward to the articles denouncing clubs spending tainted money…
