Anyone think we have been a bit carried away with the treble win and we are playing catch up and rushing around?
Seems as though absolutely nothing is happening.

I'm sure the club is asking other clubs about potential targets but either not for sale or being quoted too much. The club doesn't sit on it's hands but they have a budget which they won't be moved on.

In any case, does anything have to happen? Only Gundogan has left and we've brought in Kovacic.

I would like a better player in midfield to help and rotate with Rodri but I guess the club is giving Phillips a chance.

“Carried away with the treble” you said that like winning a league cup!

This is how we always do business not worried one bit..

Mahrez going and maybe Walker and possibly Cancelo. So it could be 4 out, 1 in at this rate. Not good.

Just seems were not making the most of the opportunity to further dominate, really thought we would get 1 or Rice or Bellingham and further more that they would want to come here.
Anyway let's see what happens.

Great news on Ake. Before last season I was in the ‘against’ camp - always thought he was a bit of a liability at centre half being too rash but that left back position is perfect for him. He’s been fantastic there, nullified pretty much every winger he’s come up against.

Yeah would of been nice to get one of them but Bellingham wanted Madrid and deep down I believe city new Rice wanted Arsenal! Like I said this is how we do business!

I think a few posters may think that but I'm pretty sure tixxi and the rest haven't just gone oh shit the seasons over ! who do we need ? I'm sure we have scouts watching players for months if not years for every area of the team I'd try not to get too worked up about it

You need to shake and move every year but not too much. There’s a winning formula and enough competition/hunger within our current squad to keep things moving.

If there is one thing the club does well, it is succession planning. They will have identified potential targets for each position and will be ready to move should there be any outgoings.

So relax and enjoy the ride!

Keep the squad as it is. And I don’t think we’re in a spot of bother at all.

Ederson/Ortega

Centre back options as of now

Walker/Akanji Dias/Stones Ake/Laporte

Traditional fullbacks/inverted midfielders.
Rico Lewis, Sergio Gomez

Midfield:
Rodri, KDB, Bernardo, Kovacic, Foden, McAtee

Attack:
Haaland, Alvarez, Grealish, Bobb

That’s not even considering the versatility of Walker, Stones, Lewis, Foden, Alvarez, KDB, Akanji etc. all can play in multiple positions.

I’ve not included Cancelo on purpose because imo that one’s a certain goner and there is no way back for him.

Not too chaotic for a treble winning side’s follow up season is it?

Bernardo staying would be huge. Squad looks pretty good as it is:

Mahrez, Trafford, Charles, Borges, Porro (sell-on), Herrera and the Fletcher twins all leaving for a reported 94,1m (including add-ons). Plenty of other players could be leaving for big money. Cancelo, Laporte, Lavia (sell-on), THB, T. Doyle, Mebude and possibly Walker could be another 120-140m. Seems like we could comfortably reach 200m in sales

Kovacic and Gvardiol coming in for around 115m would still leave us with a big negative net spend. Gvardiol replaces Laporte, and Kovacic replaces Gundo. In terms of pure numbers, we`d probably need another player to replace Mahrez, either a midfielder or a winger. I`d guess Bernardo is pushed out wide to replace Mahrez, and Bobb/Foden would be solid backup options.

If Bernardo is pushed out wide I think we`d be a little light in midfield. Kev`s getting older and more injury prone, Kovacic had some struggles at Chelsea too, Foden might play out wide at times and McAtee is not very experienced. Could need another midfielder. I`d love either Barella or Matheus Nunes. If we`re gonna target another winger (and Bernardo plays more centrally) the market is very very slim. Saka and Rodrygo are the only ones that could be pushing for a start immediately, but none of them are available or realistic. I`d take either Cherki, Kubo (very underrated player) or Raphinha, but my preferred option would be Adeyemi from Dortmund. Can play anywhere in the front 3, one of the quickest players in world football and very good on the ball. Very exciting player
