ULEZ Letter

And if they don't have 5 grand, and have to feed their own kids on a low wage. Are they thundercunts as well ?

How does paying £12.50 a day, that you don't have clean the air, are you personally going to give them 5 grand so that they are no longer a thundercunt ?

I know, let's victim blame the low paid, all your problems solved hey !

He needs to explore his options. Sell the car and buy a compliant one. Might be older and not as shiny new but then he is out of it - he clearly hadn't explored the possibilities.

And yes anyone will to harm others including kids particularly their own kids based on cost are thunder cunts and I stand by that

ha Ha are you joking, nobody wants people to breathe shit air, but please don’t tell us it’s not a cash grab, paying by the mile is on the cards already,
so you buy your new EV and then they put up,the tax on electric and then charge you to drive per mile! They’ve already stopped letting you have free road tax for on EV from 2025, why? Is because they need the tax revenue. If/when hydrogen comes in then it’s basically free fuel, no tax to be paid, then it will be tax per mile, nothing to do with emissions etc.
If they really want the cars/vans off the road make them fail their MOTs, force them to scrap them, but they know they can’t as their would be a huge uprising as the whole country would have to be involved, instead people will have to pay. If suddenly everyone changed on the 28th august, how would that help the tfl finances?

You are conflating two things - costs and health. You wanna choke kids because it costs you too much not to then I have made my judgement.

The rest of what you put is just spreading sedition. Why would people in Rhyl where there are no plans for a ULEZ scrap their cars and rise up? Its not Lez Mis you know.

As for everything else I am not saying things won't evolve but it will be over time. I am old enough to remember seat belts being made mandatory to wear - emissions checking coming in on MOT's - pretty much a lot of spurious arguments were made and never came to pass, People adapt.

The last bit I cannot believe - I am sure you were in full flow and not thinking straight? If everyone or at least many many people moved onto the TFL provision do you think the increased passenger numbers and fares would not help TFL finances?

I'm alright Jack, hoist up the ladder, on the poor, low paid, and those with a fixed income !

Say's a lot more about you than you think, in fact it strongly suggests that you are in fact the thundercunt !

You have so much cash, being that 5k is nothing to you, why don't you move your kids to somewhere preferable. Or are your kids not worth that to you ?

If you bring in stricter MOT emissions it would be nation wide you can’t just target a particular area, it’s not sedition it’s a fact.
As for everyone suddenly using public transport do you think it could cope? Looking at Manchester they can’t even put decent trams on at peak times, buses are shite.
In regard getting a compliant car, do you think an 8 year old car needs to be sold and then buy a newer one, whos pollution footprint been built far outweighs the older car? As been stated if it’s only 2% that are the problem then this will disappear in time anyway as they break or are replaced naturally.

How much would they get from the scrappage scheme?

Genuine question and not making a point about anything there, just not sure what the answer is!

Mate I drive a diesel Dacia - have done for 3 years - cost me less than £5k and am on a pension thats a fixed income - you know fuck all about me

£2k in London and you have to be receiving benefits, although they’ve now included child benefits to make it more accessible! Also says you have to get a new car.

This is what escapes my understanding at the moment. What is the accumulated £12.50s gonna buy that cleans the air, or is Khan convinced that £12.50 will reduce the toxic level to an acceptable low. I'm very suspicious that it's just gonna go into a council cash till that has nothing to do with cleaning air.

There is no suggestion of stricter emissions - you can keep your polluting car it will just cost you a bit to use it - of course it would be a national change but can you point me to where thats on the cards?

Don't shift the question - you didn't ask about coping you stated more people using TFL would not help finances. Every business I know if they get an increase in customers and payments their finances are helped. Understand?

As for coping well maybe increased demand will see increased investment and provision.

No its doesn't have to happen but there are costs associated with him keeping the car. If it fails the Euro compliance for ULEZ then its VED rating will be higher and he doesn't moan about that. He has swallowed that for years with no griping. We have a Chevrolet Matiz - its the 2nd one we have had in 18 years. Its old technology and quite polluting so even as a one litre the VED is £130pa. Wife likes them so we have it. Her mum has a Hyundai i10 1200 and thats £20 a year VED. Eyes open and know what you are getting into.

So you drive what would be regarded as a polluting vehicle, but others that do are thundercunts ?

I know nothing of you except for your statements, they speak fairly loud about your thoughts on the lower paid trying to get by and raise their families. You know nothing of me either, yet that seems to be of little consequence to you.

People are not thundercunts because they can't afford your dream though, and that's a fact.

But he doesn’t drive a polluting vehicle.

It’s good they’ve increased the eligibility but that doesn’t sound enough to me. What I’d do is either up the scrappage value to the equivalent of the price of the cheapest equivalent Ulez compliant car or increase the exemptions. Would need thinking through but I do think there’s better ways of doing it than current.

No I say I drive an ULEZ liable vehicle because I want to and accept there is cost associated with that in the unlikely event that I was to drive into the ULEZ from where I live about 300 miles away.

Mate I live on a grand a month pension - thats it - I am on a low income - all you are doing is flailing about now.

How often do you or do you anticipate having to drive into the ULEZ area out of interest?

Look its obviously political - if the Conservatives won the Mayoralty Sunak would suddenly find billions for a scrappage scheme for Londeners

He says he drives a diesel, and under 5k, if it's a euro 6 I apologise for that part, but boldly stating that people should be paying 5k on a vehicle, or be a thundercunt, then proudly shouting that he spent less than that on his own is somewhat hypocritical.
I didn’t read it properly. Seems like he’s non compliant but doesn’t currently live in an area of very poor air quality.

It's not unless he drives it around a clean air zone and refuses to pay for the charges.

Or Starmer could win the next GE and do the same. Either way though, I was talking about it from the mindset of mitigating impact to people and the current proposed implementation rather than the political aspect.
