Possibly weaker. As it currently stands.
The concern is that the opposition(s) may be stronger.
Rags, Dippers, Arsenal have all signed better players. Dippers only have Europa league so they'll def come for the league title this season. Newcastle got better too.

Chelsea and Spurs will get worse. Brighton and Villa are a threat too.

Agree, most of the rivals are getting better while city are currently worse off.

Are we stronger or WEAKER ? ...

We just don't know, because we have NO idea about possible exits for...
Bernardo
Walker
Laporte
Cancelo
Palmer
We've added Kovacic and if the never ending saga is resolved plus Gvardiol, and probably Jimmy Mac and Billy Bobb.

No matter what the apologists say, after the end of season euphoria this window has been, till now, a load of "happy flowers" which I think is Catalan irony for Gladys Knight. I'd be delighted to come back on here and acknowledge a superb month of business come Sep 1st. Really hope so. However, there is a growing sense that all is not well and we ain't being told why ? ... OK ya, toodle pip

Objectively weaker currently.

If someone had said in January "the only squad change is Cancelo leaves, does that make us stronger or weaker?" what would your answer have been?

Football isn't played on paper, Pep knows he's only got 2 years left and I don't believe he'd go into his penultimate season half-baked. If you want to label me an apologist, fine, I'd rather have some trust in the people that got us this far and if worst comes to worst and they make a rare mistake and we have a season that's slightly worse than our best season ever, I can live with that.

There has been reportings of Pep being unhappy with the lack of movement so far... So, currently, its half-baked and weaker. But that is CURRENTLY, as things can change.

He might do, but at present Foden has more than one hat to wear. He is one of only 3 wide players (Grealish and Bernie being the other two) we have at the club, and also one of only 3 attacking midfielders (the others being Kev and Bernie). At present we look extremely thin in those areas and a couple of injuries would queer our pitch for next season completely. Genius though Pep is, I can’t believe that even he thinks he can make do and mend with McAtee, Bobb or Palmer (Palmer badly needs to go out on loan IMO), and I fully expect us to dip into the transfer market. With no squad slots left though, the hard part will be offloading Cancelo or Laporte for anything resembling a fair price…..
Totally agree

Am so so relax cant believe everyone else isnt!
It’s the media hype again now the season is upon us and Arsenal,Liverpool and united have brought players in. I would like 2 new players but if they don’t arrive and we go with what we have then I am fine with it. Expectations this season abit unknown due to players leaving and after winning the treble.

Football is cyclic in nature and our is not going to be different than the other, nothing can last forever.

The only hope we can is our decline is not like the rags one.
Their decline was down to off the pitch changes and decline as much as managers. Keep the club structure intact and that kind of decline should be avoided.

I agree with your general point, but I think the context of Cancelo's departure can't be compared with Gundo's, or even Riyad's.

On paper, losing Cancelo and not replacing him weakened us. But it's clear it was totally necessary and ultimately positive. I doubt the club feel the same about this summer so far.

We wanted to sign Bellingham, he chose Madrid. We wanted Kovacic, and we landed him early, for a good price. We wanted to keep Gundo, he chose Barca. We wanted to sign Rice, he chose Arsenal. We wanted to keep Riyad, he chose Saudi (whether we should have let him go is another debate). We want rid of Cancelo, but he may end up staying. We've had attractive offers for Phillips, but he refuses to leave. We want to keep Walker, but he has one foot out the door. We're happy to move Laporte on, but nobody wants to pay for him. We want to sign Gvardiol, but we don't want to meet Leipzig's valuation. We want to give Bernardo a massive new contract, but he doesn't want to sign it. We want a new winger, but we can't find any that we like.

That's the story of our summer so far. Now, I'm not sure how much the club could or should have done differently in regards to the above - and the window doesn't shut for a month - but I suppose I can't blame people for being anxious.

What I can blame people for is calling out Txiki, which is totally ignorant and childish. He doesn't do this alone, but even if he did - just look at our success.

The signings he's made have almost all been successful. Almost every instance of us walking away from a deal has proved to be the right call.

Just last year we got 3 of the bargains of the window in Alvarez, Akanji and Ortega - not to mention beating every big club in the world to Haaland's signature. And we won the fucking treble.

We'll be fine.
