So instead of earning about £220k/week plus a few million in performance bonuses which is the contract he agreed to in 2019,
Barcelona are going to have to pay him about 2.5x that much.

None of this is new info, it all came out last summer and was backed up by half a dozen papers in Spain. Just because you’ve missed it doesn’t make it nonsense @JewelZee. Look in the FDJ thread last year and it was discussed at length.

That’s all correct. Am sure the issue with selling De Jong at one point was they ( Barca) wanted the buying club to pick up the deferred wage or De jong to waive it. Think waiving it causes issues with la liga not to mention the players. Personally don’t think wage deferal should be allowed as a get out of jail card for them.

No chance he is going anywhere with only two weeks until the seasons starts. We aren't going to chop Pep off at the knees by moving Bernardo this late in the offseason
 
Until he signs a new deal or at least states he is staying then we are unfortunately still in the same situation. He will go if a fee can be agreed. The recent interview could have been used to squash the rumour and commit to the remainder of his contract on improved terms.

Bernardo is here for another season. I don't know what is going to happen next summer. It would be a huge bonus if he did extend his contract. If not let him go on a free like we had done with all our star players.
