Bernardo Silva

Even if they aren't far behind with Torres' paymernt I don't think we will be generous with Barcelona this time around. I don't think we are going to hamstring ourselves this far into the Tranfer Window either.

€100mill, take it or leave it you lever cunts! And a sack of coffee beans.
Or a swap for Frenkie de Jong (although de Jong is on higher wages). Perhaps Pep will speak to the Barcelona player as well.

Barca will never get Bernardo (now). I think they will get/take Lo Celso instead or no one.

Silva will stay..

Gundogan is a much, much better than Kovacic and he was even before he joined us. That doesn’t mean Kovacic can’t be of use to us. I want him to succeed. But effectively it is a downgrade
Different players but for me Kovacic is a top quality player who will be a huge asset.

I agree they are different players. The comparison comes from the reality of Gundogan leaving and him coming

But the reality of a year older Gundo has to be considered, he has already picked up an injury at Barca, I personally think he picked the perfect time to leave.
I’m not arguing that. What I am saying is the Gundogan of last season will have been replaced by current day Kovacic. I’m arguing as a direct replacement it is a downgrade a drop off in quality for the squad. I do believe we could have found a better option. This doesn’t fly well here, where it’s tastier to imagine our fans claiming “what a bargain” and “we ripped off Chelsea” in future online discussions.

It should be said that Pep would have liked to keep Gundo even in his older version

Hopefully he brings something different but not likely to get those vital goals that made the difference.

Kovacic isn't the one who's realistically replacing Gundogan, the fact is that Foden/Alvarez spent most games on the bench last year

Those 2 are the future of the club, one of them are the most likely candidates to take Gundogans minutes and while Gundogan is arguably better than them right now, both have such a bright future they can be at least as good

Kovacic is a nice signing to add a world class talent who can play slightly deeper and brings a wealth of experience that we lost with Ilkay

Exactly. Gundogan is one of our most vital players of the Pep era. It doesn’t surprise me we were willing to go high for Bellingham and Rice. But effectively, at this point, it is only Kovacic who has come. So it is an excellent player that went and a decent one that came. This irrespective of who takes up specific roles

Silva scores vital goals every season, easy got a double figures season in him when pushed that far forward as we've seen before.

Front 6 could easily look like this on Sunday.
Rodri
Bernardo Kovacic
Foden Haaland Grealish

Which is very good indeed.

Alvarez has to get plenty of minutes this year, and not just replacing Erl.

Kevin when fit comes into the equation and Rico is good enough too.

But after that we are very light.

Definitely need another wide player.
