Kyle Walker

If Sam Lee was a Blue, but didn’t change anything he said, I doubt that many City fans would dislike him.

Also do we want to live in an echo chamber of praise? I like neutrality and I think he gets close to that. He is hardly one of the knobheads that have clearly got it in for us.

He possibly got a bit giddy when it looked like we might lose the CAS verdict but otherwise he is OK.

Unlike most journalists he can think for himself and most of his questions to Pep are tactical which makes a nice change from “Hi Pep, if you don’t win the Champions League are you a failure?”

Back on topic I’m glad Kyle is staying

It really isn't. Journalists who get steers from the club can be trusted. People who get information from people with vested interests can't be trusted. Lee's original information clearly came either from Walker's agent or indirectly from Munich. No problem him reporting it, but his information on the potential transfer was clearly tarnished by source. His information on Walker staying less so.
Wait...are you suggesting that Sam Lee acts like every other football journalist DESPITE being a Rag at age 7? Nonsense.

I don't agree. Speaking for myself, things he said I considered shite, I called shite. Because I thought they were shite, not because he supports the shite.

I don't think that would be different if he were a blue, I also don't think he brings neutrality to an echo chamber.

I don't needlessly bash everything he says either, nor do I have have any dislike for him. He is not nearly as bad as quite a few out there. I'll happily say fair play, when I read something I can agree with.

When it comes to transfers though, he is for me one I pay the least attention to. But don't outright dismiss or ignore.

I think the issue though is the Athletic, and their constant need to say something, all, the, time. The same goes for Pol Ballus, he used to have interesting and worthwhile things to say, but it now gets lost in a constant sea of shite they all seem to have to regularly top up.

Point 1 he isn't and you must have missed all the outright shit he has written about us, especially the UEFA/CAS case and various other digs on twitter.
Point 2 The only echo chamber we live in, is a one of mostly hatred against our club, there are a few but it is a bit much to accuse us of wanting an echo chamber of praise.
Point 3 see point 1

Awful journalist.

Id say above average compared to the rest in that I can think of more worse scribes than better ones. I’m not saying the overall standard is good by the way so that’s not difficult.

After Martin Samuel there is a big drop off for me.

As opposed to Lee being full of shit? Err, no. I’m going with Lee being a clueless dickhead who doesn’t know his arse from his elbow when it comes to the club he’s meant to cover.
I beg to differ.

By the way i'm neither a Sam Lee fan, nor a hater.

I don’t think he changed his mind at all. I think he was undecided and was happy to listen to what Bayern had to say but ultimately when push came to shove he knew where his bread was buttered.
Sam Lee was pretty much right all along with the Walker saga. He said he was thinking of going to Bayern.

Then, when reports came out about our first new contract offer and others thought Kyle would stay, Lee doubled down and said Munich were still a likely destination for him.

Now he’s found out first he’s staying. He’s either got contacts with Walker’s entourage, someone in Germany or a City bod.

He‘s said himself that since joining the Athletic, he doesn’t need to aggregate transfer stuff for clicks and so is generally reliable when he tweets stuff, imho.

He‘s obviously got stuff wrong in the past though and it’s a good job I don’t really care what is true and isn’t at this stage.

Should we sign a midfielder or winger, I’ll be happy to see what they can bring.

If not, we get to see a couple of our youngsters try their stuff in the big time.

Winning the treble has calmed me. This season will be what it is.

We still have Pep. Therefore all honours are possible.
