Bernardo has never really had a midfield spot. I'd guess he's played more games wide right than midfield.If we were to sign Paqueta I'd guess that would be it for wingers with Grealish, Bernardo Foden, plus 1 of Palmer or Bobb making up the numbers.

What if Paqueta was the target all along?

We contact West Ham and they say they don't really want to sell because they're about to sell Rice for £85m.

We say, what if Arsenal bid more so you have more money for replacements?

Then suddenly our half-arsed bid for Rice goes in and Arsenal stump up more money....

Probably nonsense, but it's got to be more chance of it being true than what Aluko said though hasn't it?

What are your thoughts on Rice?

You can probably apply the exact same to Pancetta.

Seems to be a similar split, plenty of quality but is it our level. The high price has a lot to do with it.

He looked Brazil's best midfielder in the world cup and very tidy whenever we've played him

Our starting midfield for a lot of games after Silva went was Rodri, Bernardo and Kevin De Bruyne with Gundogan on the bench.

He’s the real deal and have been privately preying no one tries to nab him seen as he’s only just settled in with us.

That's how I think it seems as well, like an approach from their side. Possibly knowing we looked at him last summer, checking if there is something there, than getting a price out into the Brazilian media, amd seeing if it goes anywhere.

Noticed him in the second half of last season and thought he could fit into our play. Quick feet and doesn't give the ball away cheaply.
As others have said, he gave up regular CL football at Lyon so it makes sense if there is a release clause ( we all know Txiki loves those) and we have been made aware.
Thats 180 (if it's 70) less 60/70 so far incoming so still something left in the tank to do something else.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Vinny take one purchase and one loan after Friday, but if Paqueta does come, it means one or two of McAtee/Palmer/Bobb leaving, hopefully on loan.
