Ortega’s camp discussing a move with Bayern. Don’t think it would take much for us to sell with him having been signed on a free. Very difficult to keep such a good no.2 for longer than a year.

New deal on the table for him from our side, so he has a decision to make. Presume Bayern want him as their number 1. Tbh he’d be mad to stay here as no.2 over going back to Germany to be Bayern’s main keeper.

And being Bayern’s no.1 fast tracks him between the sticks for his national team too. No brainer, all the best to him.

Well how much will it cost us to get a number 2 goalie who can do what Ortega can do?
I can tell you now, we won’t get a no.2 keeper that can do everything Ortega can do. He might just be as good as it can possibly get for that role. So much so that it can only ever be a 1-year thing. He’s too good. We just take the pure profit on him and search for another feeebie or cheap, experienced keeper to come in.

What's happening with Zack Steffan?

Would he be happy to go being our backup for a year until we have secured his replacement and then go next summer?

He is contracted till 2025 we can tell Bayern it's 50m

Tbh I think City would be far more accommodating with him being a no.2 keeper. Honestly, if you’re to treat players as human beings, like City do, I think you have to recognise when a player who barely plays has an opportunity of a lifetime. Just think it’s totally different with reserve keepers. They might be the only players in a squad that are actually doing their club a favour, by being happy to just play the odd cup game. This move can even get him national team caps. I don’t think it would take more than £25m to sign him. That’s £25m pure profit on our books too. £50m is fanciful. He’s 30 and a no.2 keeper. That limits the price a lot.

We usually accommodating unlike other clubs we deal with.

Be interesting how this plays out and what fee we get if sold..

It is too short notice for us. Bayern had near enough all summer to find a suitable replacement/ backup for Neuer. Although we wouldn't get £50m we should a least try for £35m. Or tell Bayern he is unavailable. We are accomodating but at the same time we aren't going leave ourselves short.

The problem would be replacing him though, esp now Trafford has gone.
