I don't think he was bad but he wasn't great. I thought he had a bit more pace to him but Dias isn't exactly a burner either. Early days.
Watch it againAke lost his man, not Gvardiol
Ake let him get the wrong side and Gvardiol didn't close tha gap quick enough.Watch it again
pep said very little training has taken placeThought he started slowly and grew into the game. Very early doors for him here, but signs look excellent.
Anyone criticising him on his first full game, give your heads a wobble
Gvardiol was the closest defender. Didn’t even attempt to jump, just tried to shove the attackerAke let him get the wrong side and Gvardiol didn't close tha gap quick enough.
It was good centre-forward play.
its his first full game i think the whole defensive unit wasnt right tonight except eddie... get ruben and stone in for akanji and ake at weekend and well be fine. His passing and dribbling is so good for a defender. He didn't have a good game defending, but honestly Akanji, Ake and Walker were even worse. Overall very poor defending tonight from our team
He was totally good, the others were bad. He's going to be a starter next to Dias and Stones, he's already fitting into the team excellently, you can see thatHis passing and dribbling is so good for a defender. He didn't have a good game defending, but honestly Akanji, Ake and Walker were even worse. Overall very poor defending tonight from our team
If he can do the Rodri/Stones role and grow into being a Pep centre back, he’ll look an absolute bargain. The most nailed on thing ever that he’ll be playing in midfield in time, in the hybrid CB/DM role, once he gets used to the way we play.
