Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Have the rules changed? or am I missing something? Early in the season Alvarez was caught offside I recall? he was running with the ball and kicked it away two or three yards. He was booked for this, I thought well if that’s the rule for all! Last night Newcastle players were at it all the time even passing it to each other to stop us taking free kicks! Think one might have been booked late on? Tell me if I wrong they even got the f……. Ball boys doing it as well.

Last night the referee was truly abysmal . Linton was given free rein to go round kicking our players with no comeback. Pep getting booked was the icing on the cake for this useless ref and his 4th official.

Seen the ball boy do it and they wouldn’t even get the ball for us, just sat there on their little chairs.

Howe had a plan to disrupt our game by any means possible which Pep cottoned onto quite early. Pep got more and more frustrated with the treatment of our players and finally snapped, letting Howe know his thoughts. In fact, it even looked like he let their sub’s know his thoughts as well.

We are a nice team who respect the opposition but if fucked over, we can play that game as well. I’m expecting Pep to have no mercy the next time we play them, the elephant never forgets.

I noticed that with the crowd and ball boy late on

Howe's plan at half time was called Joelinton.
"You know go out and get physical with these lot for running rings around us, no don't worry above the ref, it's man City were playing remember"

I thought Kalvin was our elephant.

Fuck the refs and fuck the establishment! The only way to beat them is to keep winning
You say that, but it means we have to play at 100% with no mistakes every game to beat them, which is both mentally and physically exhausting.

Once the ref lets a couple of opposition fouls go early doors, or plays on when we're running down a blind alley teams know the ref is going to give them an easier time of it. It effects their team, it affects our team, and it also effects the managers decision making.

Whether it was consciously or not, last night WAS NOT a level playing field.

I stopped counting at 16 times they'd moved the ball and yeah I saw at the top of the screen tre ballboy fucking about too.

Strangely I can remember only one ballboy incident Wanchoppe being sent off at Norwich.

Ooooh, that sounds like a rerun of last Saturday! I despair of receiving the same treatment that the opposition seem to get.

I apologise. I thought you moaning about the referee was because he might have been a cause for our loss.

I guess you just wanted a moan.

Crack on fella.
I think it’s you in the wrong thread to be honest.

Someone criticises a ref and you immediately start talking about a lack of creativity. That’s fuck all to do with the subject of this thread if we’re honest.

What’s missed by those who seemingly seek to downplay officials and how they ref us each week for reasons only they know is these threads are still here despite us winning each week. Its not sour grapes or trying to find excuses, its because we are seeing such shocking displays that no one can honestly say are anywhere near correct.

This is fine to have as an opinion. What makes it iffy is you trying to suggest anyone that doesn’t hold the same view as you is being dishonest.

Just because people disagree with a view, doesn’t mean that they are WUMming or being dishonest.

All that does is create an angry thread, rather than one that is there to debate officiating,

My favourite was that geordie scrub Longstaff piled into the back of Philips shoving him into Akanjis face and knocking him off the ball enabling Newcastle posession and a powder puff challenge followed in the melee giving a free kick to them. Akanji rightly had a word and got booked.

Thoroughly shit game managing, two tiered refereeing from start to finish.

I also laughed when Dummet jumped on Fodens back running into their area and shitbag commentator remarked "you're not getting a foul for that" when I've seen our players sent off for less contact in less threatening areas in similar situations.

Joellinton given free reign to kick who he liked when he liked with no action. There were so many grabs and sly pulls after challenges i lost count.

Loads of cynical middle of the field transitional fouls by Tonali that were supposed to be the masters of and get a yellow every time for, yet he got booked for kicking the ball away for the 3rd time.

I’d just say those who think all is fine and dandy are in an ever decreasing minority on here…
