I once saw a toilet door off it’s hinges and propped up against the wall. Out of 6 toilet cubicles only 1 had toilet paper. The staff are rude and aggressive. Paarking and drop off fees are an absolute piss-take. I have used JLA a few times. It might look like a Tescos superstore, but it’s a great airport in comparison to Manchester.

If you want to see and experience a fantastic airport fly to Munich. It is absolutely spotless. In the toilets the cleaners have to log in and out on a touch screen set into the wall to show they have cleaned the toilets.

I find JLA far better to fly from than Manchester although it could do with being connected to the rail network. Otherwise its an easy drive there, parking is reasonable and convenient, queues move much quicker than Manchester.

I worked in the Airport industry for about 5 years and I’d say the infrastructure at Manchester is generally poor, old, dilapidated and certainly not built to handle the capacity it does. Unfortunately it’s a feature of all UK airports that behind the glitz and glamour the passenger sees - duty free shops and food outlets etc behind the scenes they are a shit hole - a lack of investment, poor maintenance, poor working conditions, crap facilities for employees. UK airports capacity has gone through the roof in the last 20 years but the infrastructure just hasn’t kept pace. The airports in the Middle East are on another level but I guess this is just any case of the UK trying to do things on the cheap and ultimately paying the price. I know people moan about baggage times etc but it’s not the employees it’s the infrastructure and penny pinching that’s the problem.

Just gone through Security at T1, the usual disorganised nonsense. Just 2 security scanners in operation out of 15. The people marshaling the passengers clearly need more training. While the usual 5 or 6 stand arround doing nothing and chat. Its laughable.

every morning we have 3 wide body aircraft(big planes) coming in , 3 going out 6 movements in total,or so you would think, with the lack of space we have to offload each aircraft,then tow it to a remote stand that's 2 movements, when it is ready to go out we have to tow the aircraft back onto stand ,load it then push it out so another two movements, we have to do that with all 3 aircraft, so instead of 6 movements for 3 aircraft that's now 12 movements, and that is just for 3 aircraft, 12 lots of equipment we have to move,and these aircraft need alot of equipment, we have to move hi loaders(they move containers and cargo) they go about 4mph, they fucked up the design in the baghall(where we offload the bags onto the carousels) they made it toooooo fucking small so we have to take less bags in,meaning more trips,and longer for passengers to wait, im not surprised the airport is struggling with recruitment everything is made harder for us. when i look what it was like when i first joined compared to now ,its fucking shocking.

i am sure 99% of passengers know this, same with every privatised service, profit/short term gain always at the expense of customers.

That’s how I feel. Been through loads this year and the only problem we had was a 2-hour delay due to French ATC.

Last year was a shambles, so maybe it just seems good this year!

Manchester Airport is really a smelly overcrowded pub with some planes coming in and out.
A load of scrotes getting leathered at 6 in the morning . Almost everytime you read about some air rage incident the flight originated in Manchester.

i get up at silly o'clock , i work until silly o'clock,i work in torrential rain,wind,snow,ice and very rarely sunshiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnneeeeee :)
the pay isn't the best in the world,its not bad,i have enough,i work in cramped conditions,i work high up, and everything you bump into or bang with your head,hands,shins,knees is hard and fucking well hurts, im either too hot too cold,hungry ,thirsty,or knackered , i come home dirty and usually sit down for 5 mins and fall asleep, i get accused of wrecking bags or stealing stuff out of bags and losing bags, i had to give up my season ticket because i work nearly every weekend , and you lot complain if the terminal may be a bit busy and you have to wait to get on your aircraft ,the aircraft that i've walked around to make sure it is ok to take off,or i've pushed the plane so its facing the right way :)

well aaaahhh didums, dont like it don't fly but remember if i lose my job because there are no passengers,don't walk past me when i ask you for 50p for a brew :)

have a lovely trip,and thank you for flying with sirpeacefrog airlines, where as we say, your bag may have stuff missing from it,or knackered but we guarantee you will get your bag*

in your airport fury you took my post seriously, i've worked at the airport(not for the airport) for 20 years,i actually really enjoy my job(or i wouldn't have been there 20 years) i know the airport is shite(and getting worse imo), so i'm not defending it, my post was most definitely tongue in cheek, however i hope your next flight with sirpeacefrog airlines is the most horrendous experience you've ever had traveling and you catch ring(way) worm and have an itchy bum for months. :) ( that smiley means im joking) as were the 4 or 5 in the post you replied to.

Flew out yesterday on a 13.00 flight from Terminal 1. Much better than it was, still the odd ignorant member of staff around though.

Possibly the time of year but no queues at security or the bars £6.25 for Becks wasn't bad for a captive audience.

EasyJet however, managed to confuse almost everyone at check-in and although the flight was really good were equally shite on the transfer to our hotel.
