Would you want VAR scrapped?

Weird one this. Without VAR the goal is disallowed. The VAR came to the right decision. So plus 1 in the pro column. Unfortunately the decision was not communicated correctly which seems like it should be the easiest step to get right. Minus 10 in the cons column

Now if this calls into question sporting integrity because we know VAR decisions can be poorly communicated how can we even trust that the right checks are even being made let alone the ref team are coming to the right decision? Exhibit 1: Salah goal against City with the quickest offside check in the history of VAR. Exhibit 2: Fernandes using Rashford as a human shield.

They absolutely must improve transparency. Audio should be released immediately after games OR broadcast in the stadiums. If they don't they will lose all credibility.

The media should be more going on about premier refused the auto offside system that Uefa have! That decision against Liverpool would not had happened if they had it!

This is the problem with the Premier and referees they are that arrogant they always think they are better!
Yep. High bar my fucking arse

This is the issue with all the ignorant know nowts, they seem to think that the UAE is just one huge country which is why when anything happens in Dubai, Qatar or even Saudi Arabia it's apparently our owners fault.
I don't know why he was out there but I think it's 100% irrelevant to his job or his role on the mistakes on Saturday, he may have been there as part of his role with PGMOL, that kind of thing happens in various industries all the time.
It was just a monumental fuck up which has highlighted the lack of professionalism of the VAR team. The only reason this is a big deal is because after how ever many years of VAR in England a provably wrong decision has gone against Liverpool. There weren't making statements when poor quality refereeing by the onfield and VAR officials gifted them a league title.
Soft arse pricks, I'll let them off for their tedious hypocrisy if their cult of victim hood whinging gives the league and officials the kick up the arse they need to get refereeing standards to where they should be.
Why do you make this issue about Liverpool, open hour eyes and get out of your little tree and realize that shite situation has nothing to do with any particular team. If affects them all.

I know Liverpool have made the most noise, but I wish Pep and other high profile managers and players would do the same.

This status quo position of doffing your cap respectfully to the authorities isn't working and never will.

This needs to change AND it should change, it's indefensible.

To some it's sport, a game to watch, but for the owners there's a huge investment in a multimillion pound industry. If somebody in a business f**ks up and causes another business to lose substantial amounts of money, then there would repercussion, why are these shysters allowed to get away with it, week in, week out?

I'll stop short of calling them corrupt, but something is going on, because some of these decisions against clubs are unfathomable and need sorting out.

It's always about Liverpool, isn't it?

Ps if you don't like it, fuck off back to your own sites.

You're missing the point, there are any number of clubs having issues with VAR, that's the point I'm making. After the comments made by Dean and the offside at the weekend, football as a whole has to speak up and force changes. The higher the profile making the noise, the more the media take notice, that's why I'd like Pep to be more vocal and not just him either.

WTF has this to do with a VAR discussion regarding the English Premier League?

It's to do with you being pathetic whingers when something affects you, but being completely quiet about integrity when your owners are cheating in the US, when you are hacking our scouting database, or when you refuse to accept any responsibility for anything that ever happens involving your club or your fans. It is, for your information. what the Always the Victims chant is about. You are proving it yet again, and you don't realise it. It is absolutely relevant to the point that this one decision is being escalated beyond what is reasonable because it was against Liverpool, when there are decisions every week against other clubs. I hope PGMOL and the PL grow a pair and tell you to fuck off.

I am no fan of how VAR is implemented, but this is ridiculous.

We have to speak up and force changes because of what happened at the weekend? Why didn't you speak up and force changes after Wolves were screwed at Anfield? Or maybe after the United goal against City at OT last year? Any particular reason? Unbelievable hubris.

What has this to do with me?

Because I recently join a topic and voice an opinion........I'm now a scouser????

Next week I'll comment on the Australian govt and be an Aussie for you.....FFS!!!

This is the first time I've commented, but the issue has been going on far longer, now it's just becoming so blatant with little to no repercussion..........except for an apology. Apologies have been made before and where did that get us? Nobody is held accountable and until now, nobody has been seriously questioning it.

If you're OK with VAR and how it's run, or manipulated each and every week, then fine, but I think it needs shaking up and changing/improving.

Apologies if you aren't a Liverpool fan, but if you walk like Scouser and talk like a Scouser, then it's pretty reasonable to assume you are a Scouser.

If you think I am a VAR supporter, then you haven't been paying attention, but this was a stupid mistake caused by a poor communication protocol that can be fixed in 5 minutes and will never happen again. None of it fixes the real issues with the implementation of VAR which are far more complex and structural. But you do you. If you think Liverpool are interested in sporting integrity, go with it. I am out, though.

You should be thankful VAR was not brought in earlier, we were robbed in the champions league against you and Spurs, we just got on with it, the rest is history.

Nah mate, you're missing the point.

It's all a big media pantomime pal.
Here come liVARpool, the saviors of football, sorting out VAR for us all. When do we cheer?

City decisions against -

There are so, so many examples mate, but here are 2...

Penalty for Arsenal at a crucial almost pivotal point in the match for a keeper doing what a keeper does EVERY match, EVERY week. UNPRECEDENTED. Spoken about for a week, max.

Rashford goal. UNPRECEDENTED. No comment from me, but the media response to the "explanation" by PiGMol is simply "Oh, isn't that clever, under the actual letter of the law you can see how it wasn't disallowed". The media moved on after about a week.

And there are so many more examples of this.

City decisions for -

Goal against Villa that was "possibly" offside. An actual fucking change of the match laws happens about a fortnight later after the media goes into frenzy mode.

Liverpool cry because they're like the baby that knows it's always going to get picked up and cuddled; City keep quite because they know their tears will be ignored or even ridiculed.

Worth noting that if VAR didn't exist that goal still would have been chalked off BTW as the onfield refereeing team gave it offside.

And that isn't a problem, btw.

There were a lot of wrong marginal offside calls pre-VAR, it was one of the main drivers behind VAR, recognising that it was a very difficult thing to judge. Fans whinged, pundits pointed out the mistakes back then, but no-one in the ground noticed for 99% of the calls. The game went ahead smoothly. VAR should just correct the 1% that are obviously wrong. They should forget the lines, parallax, perspective and absolute truth, if you can't tell it's a mistake from normal video, just let it go.

In this case, it was a pretty clear mistake from the video and so was corrected. The mistake, as we know, was a poor communication protocol. Easy to fix.

All of the VAR issues are easy to fix yet we still have bad decisions regularly occurring.

Fair enough, except imho Liverpool are only looking out for their own interests here. I don't believe for one minute their sporting integrity argument and, as there is no chance of compensation from this, they will be after something else. At the end of the day, the fix to make sure this never happens again is so easy, it doesn't justify the noise being made.

But you may be right and there will be a thorough review of the VAR implementation and it will be significantly improved. I am not holding my breath though, tbh. Let's see.

the fa and pgmol should literally tell liverpool to fuck off, this idea that they are better than anyone else so must be listened to must be banished and dismissed out of hand, its a fecking joke that we are taking this so seriously because liverpool were on the other end of it, do you think if it happened for liverpool against bournemouth that their would be anywhere near the same outrage, basically the fa and pgmol are just openly confirming what everyone already knew and that is that the istree clubs are reffed different than everyone else

Of course they are, and if it were us or any other club, the same argument would be made.

The fixes that VAR needs are easily addressed, but still we have stupid errors being made, so I can understand the undertones of sporting integrity.
