Rugby World Cup 2023

We have to beat Scotland first.
Let’s not talk of such things until we no we’re out of the group.
I have an awful feeling Scotland fancy spoiling the party tomorrow.

All those Southern hemisphere players in the Ireland team will be too much for Scotland. Bundiaki will raise his game again seeing Penaud contesting the player of the tournament with him.

I’m looking forward to Ireland’s Lions stakes at like Connor Murray raising the trophy.

You’re that first guy in the ad aren’t you?

Fair enough.
I would say that with where rugby stands in the pecking order in this country, the IRFU are doing a remarkable job.
They have invested at grassroots level and there seems to be a clear professional approach in management and a pathway to top level.
The same can be said for the GAA here although Gaelic games are amateur.
I wish the FAI could get their fingers out. The least said about them the better.

My point regarding the rugby organisation at the top level globally, surely they would be looking to promote the same professionalism world wide and get it at grass roots in as many countries as possible.

I have no,idea how that is done world wide, but I would guess seeing your national country qualify for a World Cup and performing on a world stage is huge for attracting more to the sport domestically.
A growing FAI means a declining GAA so long let the FAI meander. Let the soccer to across the sea and let our kids continue to bate the head off each other on the bigger pitch. Nothing like it in the world.

The GAA is a fabulous organisation.
In every parish in every county and supporting every parish in every county.
I gave up on the FAI years ago. Used to go to all the games.

Agree, from an outsider listening to the locals support their team through not much more than blind loyalty to their locality is a throwback to how football was In England years ago when I first starting going and fans supporting their local team.

For me it's all about the kids and them developing into amazingly skilled athletes who can take hardship (physically and mentally) and know as they face challenges that there is a network of support for them in their club.... for life.

(Soccer in Ireland just doesn't have that same culture ... that ive seen at least. Not sure about Rugby but again id doubt it.)

Through far better funding and government help, very easy to boast about being better when the government hands you whatever you want and you dont have to pay players. Football in this country is at least getting its act togetheir mainly through LOI clubs and grass routes bringing through talent. Football is also far more inclisive as can be seen from our underage teams with great talent which is great to see and will soon see in our senior team.

That final that was shown on BBC Two was the first time I actually watched a whole game. Didn't understand it at first, but learnt a lot, especially the cultural impact it has in the country and how the spectators are expected to work out the score totals themselves.

Football is the most played sport in this country especially by kids folllowed by gaa ball and hurling. Grass roots clubs to great work up and down the country and are much more inclusive which is great to see as our population changes. We need to ensure talented kids concentrate their talents on proper sports the world plays and not these local games which are generally pointless.

Been watching the games on a French channel jIcan get on my firestick app. They call a try an "Essai" which translates to Essay and a conversation a "Transformation".
