Brilliant performance in the first half. Aided by some very questionable refereeing, a goal from very little changed the complexion of the game. It happens - the excellent Mitoma did Walker and it caused havoc - but the response in the match day thread was ridiculous, with players being called shit and wanker. It's a good win against a really good side. Rodri, Stones, and Gvardiol all played really well. Doku was superb and a real 60m danger.

On we go. A bit more fitness from returning players and we will be really cruising once more.

Decent first half then went to shit. Doku runs at their full back to get to the back line. Direct and exciting to watch. Ran Milner ragged. Compare that to Jack who often gets the ball wide, runs, stops and looks to knock it backwards. Not sure whether Akanji missing for the derby is a bad thing. Chance for Ruben to step up again.

Brighton are a top side, showed their class in that second half.

They are a very well coached team, and made the pitch big and exploited the gaps it created .as we ran out of steam a bit which is understandable after an international break. All in all a good result.

Good game. Doku and Foden were electric in the first half and Haaland got a goal from outside the box.

Should've been 5 up after an hour with a better final ball, thought Pep was too slow with the subs as it was obvious Brighton were finding more joy, they didn't create any chances after the goal, and we held on despite the twat ref making some idiotic calls, 3 points is what matters but we are making things harder than they should be and we can't keep a clean sheet which is a concerm.

The only issue I have with the Akanji sending off is the inconsistency in the application of the rules.

Fuck knows how many times Doku was fouled in a similar manner without a yellow being brandished.

Their CB went in late on Stones which was a far worse foul than any committed by Akanji and didn’t get booked. He then gets booked later in the game for another foul.

In fact, there were identical fouls to the Akanji sending off on both Foden and Doku and the ref wave play on with no advantage.

That ref is an absolute arsehole and his treatment of Grealish in every game he refs us is utterly unprofessional.
