PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I see Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is in Abu Dhabi today.

I’m sure The Athletic journos will be spewing over the idea that City’s charges will be discussed whilst he is there !!!

I’ve seen some info on stadium costs on here but can’t find it. Can someone (@Prestwich_Blue ) explain if what we spend on our stadium redevelopment is outside FFP or will it impact on what we can spend on players etc?

It is not part of FFP, as I have always understood it. And it will be paid back (and then some) by the vast commercial offerings that are part of it all.

My reading of the rules is that you can claim back depreciation of fixed assets on your balance sheet, plus any financing costs of the development. So if we borrow money and pay interest on it, we can claim the interest back against FFP.

I don't believe you can claim the actual expenditure of building it though. You can only claim depreciation once it's on the balance sheet.

Won't that mean we will have little to spend on players if the expenditure on the stadium has to be counted towards FFP? Our income, less stadium expenses leaves little left for players etc? Sorry to sound thick but it doesn't seem to help our team rebuilding for several years if this is the case

Has it changed PB? Or maybe you are referring to PL rules that I am not too familar with (as opposed to UEFA rules)?

But I was pretty certain previously that infrastructure spending on e.g. stadium and associated facilities did NOT count towards the break-even result.

is this no longer the case?

EDIT: I think I remembered it wrongly. You can only discount the cost of finance, not the actually cost, can't you.

Not that I really care for his opinion, but he did say that he'd heard that the PL case presented to the independent panel last week "wasn't particularly impressive".

How is this "confidential " hearing being leaked to :-
1 Talksport
2 Spitty
I am not from a legal background but surely Everton should be asking the Pl what is going on ?
Didn't we sever communication with UEFA because of this ?

You're presuming that both of them are telling the truth when they say they've "heard" things.

Simon Jordan last week on Talksport mentioned he was meeting Rick Parry later in the week.

A few days later and he magically knows confidential info on the Everton hearing.

Join the dots.

You couldn’t make this shit up

Parry, though now at the EFL, is certainly in the loop with the PL probe. He has lots of contacts at the PL and the FA and LFC.
