PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

How did the Rags escape with just a fine is my main question today
Because that was UEFA rather than the Premier League and because they didn't breach FFP by anything like as much as Everton have. Wolves and Hull City have had similar fines from UEFA to what the Rags have had.

Don't get me wrong, I hate that lot as much as the next person and I wouldn't be surprised if they've been stirring the pot to get us shafted - and if they have they deserve to be wiped out forever - but I don't see any conspiracy from the footballing authorities in terms of the level of punishment they received. I do believe much of the press are biased cunts who are up their arse though and would no doubt give them a much easier ride if it was they who faced the kind of charges that we face.

Its hard to get through to people that these are totally different cases. How stupid and stubborn are some football fans.

If we're guilty we'll be relegated I would guess now. (I say guess, i really mean just copied off Stefan on Twitter the financial expert City fan)

This just shows what hiring the best in the legal business can do for you, which Everton clearly have not. There was absolutely no need for Everton's statement to make reference to other cases. Our case is entirely independent of their own and should be kept that way. The essential claim of whataboutery is a very weak tenet upon which to lodge a legal defence.

Our case will be judged upon its facts and nothing else.
You're assuming it's aimed at us. It could be aimed at Chelsea who some believe will fail FFP due to their recent spending

It's caused reputational damage amongst our bitter rivals, but they don't sponsor City.

Istreee fans & the legacy media still hanker for the days when there was a predictable Sky Four. City, Spuds & now Newcastle have pulled that CL hegemony apart permanently.

Football is about the future, & young fans coming up only want to hear about the here & now, & not hark back to a time when football was watched & black & white telly's.

Everyone loves a winner, & few are interested in losers. Currently we come into that winner category. Eyeballs on TV sets is what matters to the money men, & few draw more eyeballs than City.

In this sense fans vote with their wallets & purses, & their eyeballs. Few are even bothered or continue to listen to the endless whining that City are oil cheats. That oil tanker set sail with the arrival of Pep Guardiola.

That's made me puff out my chest! I'm sure there's a GIF I could share if I was capable enough.

And if we are one day cleared it won't really matter, the fans have made up their minds because they'll believe anything that suits their agenda. And we're no different. I just wish sport was sport and we didn't have to deal with all the financial or political nonsense that seems to be weaved into every sporting story these days.

If they’re that transparent then they’re more amateurish than I initially thought. And that would take some doing!
Everton intend to appeal the sanction, & are claiming the effect of COVID & continued lockdowns for their losses.

Government Ministers have just weighed in urging the immediate introduction of an independent regulator & to suspend the 10 point deduction whilst Everton appeal.

Sports Lawyers are saying it's highly unusual for a ruling like this with an immediate appeal, leading to an immediate points deduction.

They've pointed to cases in Italy, Turkey & the Football League where the points deductions were stayed, pending the outcome of an appeal, & they're questioning the haste the points have been chopped. ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

Hiring the best lawyers? Several media took that as evidence that we were guilty. Henry Winter in The Times argued that we did that to kick the UEFA charges into the long grass and now maintains that our lawyers are there just to cause delay. YCNMIU.

Does seem very harsh actually. It has been decided that the relevent losses over the monitoring period were 124.5 mill, which is more than the permitted 105 mill.

That was my thought when I read that info.

I suspect the 10 pts is ready for an appeal to reduce it significantly/suspend part.

Sounds like popcorn time!

Exactly. Any sympathy I felt for them evaporated with that sly dig which is obviously aimed at ourselves, although Chelsea appear to be in the frame now as well.
Im not sure it was a direct dig at us, Chelsea are abiut to be investigated and while tge Rags are known to have failed Uefa FFP they may yet be investigated by th PL. ( I somehow kept a straight face then). Surely with this precident set they will be under huge pressure to investigate other clubs as well.

Does anyone know how much United breach UEFA FFP by?
If they breached UEFA FFP then don't they automatically breach PL as well, and if so are they going to be getting a PL points deduction?
I don't have the figure but allowable losses for UEFA FFP are far lower than PL FFP. Breaching one doesn't necessarily mean you've breached the other.

Hopefully the PL have fucked up again and are about to be made to look stupid again... further shrinking their credibilty and strengthening our case

Everton say straight away that they will appeal

But I've read multiple times that there is no facility to appeal if we are found guilty

Which is it?

They can appeal to another "independent" panel and then, finally, they can appeal again, on certain limited grounds, to a real 3 man tribunal, one chosen by each party and one chosen together. Like CAS, but within the PL framework.
