January window

Phillips shipped out with a replacement who Pep trusts is the top priority. Ideally you'd want somebody who can play alongside rodri aswell as be his stand in otherwise you just arent going to find anybody good enough and get them enough minutes to satisfy them.

Still expecting this Barco lad to come in, he'll likely spend 6 months settling in maybe one or two appearances tops but nothing significant, will however basically make gomez redundant so could see him get loaned out too, Girona maybe?

Personally, id want to see us bolster the paper thin squad with another signing, you could make a case for it to be another defender, midfielder or winger but don't think we do anything other than replace any outgoings.

Surely Gvardiol and Ake is plenty mate? Plus Gomez or maybe even Barco if he comes in should cover us fine? Rico could also play there?
he might be in luck, we're linked with at least four right now, no sure they'll move in jan though (apart from Barco)

Barco, Maatsen, Dorgu, Ait-Nouri

Doubt we’ll sign anyone in the coming window, unless somehow Paqueta is cleared and West Ham are somehow amenable to his departure. Too much somehow to be likely, for me. Nobody else we’re associated with would be up to speed for what we immediately require. We’re currently top of the pile with one point less than at the same stage last season, and we also have de Bruyne and Stones to return and Grealish and Nunes to find consistent form, so unless things go horribly awry in December, we’ll go with what we have.

Weve been making do with “converted” left backs for years. Ake is a brilliant player and can definitely do the job. But he is injury prone and can’t do the job on his own. I think Gvardiol looks like he‘ll be a great centre back but (imo) has struggled at left back. I haven’t seen Barco play so can’t comment on him. Personally I dont see either Gomez or Lewis as left backs but what do I know - Pep can get anyqone to play anywhere. I’d just like to have a couple of specialist full backs in that position

Don’t get the Bernardo will definitely leave, surely he would not have signed a new contract if he was that set on leaving.

Whilst I doubt we don’t want him to leave the rumoured £50 million for a player over 30, not many clubs do that deal.

The 3 I think he would consider are Paris, Barca and Madrid and whilst if I was any of them, I would pay the buy out, they might not.

The signing of the contract said to me, it gave him the potential option to move and also stay (with a move back to Portugal at the end of the contract, I don’t doubt there is a nice little loyalty in there if he stays to the end.

Bernardo has been open to leave for awhile but not desperate.

Must never be allowed to leave, whatever we pay him, it's not enough.

He hates the dippers more than I do and that is some hatred!!

Also as that's the release clause figure, i think buying teams have to pay that amount in full rather than installments. If so, that makes it even less likely imo.

I personally think he'll see out his contract now before leaving for Benfica on a free.

Should definitely put Barcelona off!!

Be a great signing and he will get plenty of game time . We need to downs some money on cover for Rodri and he will do .
He would do ,doubt he’d be interested though, plenty of good team he can be first choice at, if he even wanted to leave Villa.

He would be coming to the best team in the world so that should swing it
He’d also know he plays in the same position as Rodri and would be lucky to get 10 /15 games a season, think that will swing it the other way for him.
